Wee Wee i esp take out the pups after they eat. sometimes it takes a while to get a poop out but i make a big deal when they go out side and do there bussiness. sounds like a party whoo hoo they wag there tail and in we go.... |
I tried em' and cant stand that way of training, if they are going to be trained for outdoors eventually...you might as well train them right away for outdoors...much less confusing..at least in my experience.. Dawn |
I have never used peepads for my bigger or smaller dogs, Until I got my two Yorkies and we started training them to go out, But I have a bad back so we decided to train them on the pad and now they go to the pad , Mostly at night and out side during the day. |
my home is a pee pad free home. Morgan may be small but i never let her get the idea that peeing and pooping in the house is ok. It just defeats the purpose of housebreaking a dog i think. So rain or shine, snow or sleet, cold or hot, light or dark, we are outside at least 4 times a day. Morgan as learned to go real quick when its cold outside, plus she has a sweater on when its cold. She very tiny at 3.5 lbs but 2 minutes outside isn't going to kill her. Also i go outside with her on a retractable leash because the yard isn't fenced, so she's never outside alone. |
I have never used pee pads but wish Chewy would use them when we travel...How in the world do you get them to use the darn thing???? |

We've had Lexi for just over a week now and we use newspaper by the back door. I do have a pee pad in the back corner of her crate while I'm at work. She's used it for #1 & #2, so I guess she doesn't mind them. I would love to take her outside, but it's so cold and she's only 2 lbs. We found out 2 days after we got Lexi that she has Coccidia, and the doctor told me to keep her warm, so we aren't attempting the cold yet. Lexi is probably at 75%, and the rest are accidents someplace other than paper or pads. :):aimeeyork |
I have and still use pee pads. I will not let my tiny ones go outside when it is tooooo cold, in order to train them outside. I do not want a sick dog so it has been my experience to use the pee pads in the beginning. But what works for me may not work for everyone else. So I would say what ever works....:aimeeyork |
Howie's almost a year old and he still uses pads indoors. I have one in every major room. I live in an apartment and we live on the 3rd floor with no elevator. When he was a baby I tried taking him outside, but that resulted in him peeing on the steps and me having to clean it up in front of my gawking neighbors. :rolleyes: I don't plan on living in an apartment for too much longer and I'm hoping that when I get a house with a yard I'll be able to work on training him to go outside. But with all that being said I'm not a morning person OR a cold person... sooo I kind of like the pads to save me from being outside at 6am when it's dark and 19 degrees! |
we tried with Bandit. Didn't go so well. lol. He was just about potty trained to go outside after about 3 weeks! But once we got Tucker we decided just outside. and it took him a while........a long while.....but he goes outside too. (He took about a year to house break...fun. He still has accidents sometimes, though.) and Maddie came to us house broken. I don't think she's ever used pee pads. |
im going to have to :( we live in a flat, so im going to put on in the kitchen. when i take her in the garden i will take a pee pad out with me. |
I use them when its rainy or real cold. I put them down only those times and he uses them. But Boo also knows if theres not one down he goes outside. Dual training |
Mine use pee pads from day 1 and they are 100% pee pad trained. I'm gone for almost 9-10 hrs a day and no one can be at home to take them out so we did the pads. This works for us and no they do not stink up my house. :D Pads are removed as soon as we come home and when we are home they use their pads about 2-3 times (pee) and if they poop they come right up and in a little baggie and out the door. This works for us. I sometimes do wish I could take them out and they go potty outside. They'll be outside and will not go potty..they hold it until we are done walking and go straight to the pad when they come in the house. |
Mmm.. My pup is 13 yrs old, and I acquired her about 2 years ago, is she old to be trained? I did try wee wee pad with her, but she would not use it. She used to wait until I come home and go outside, however, frequency of tinckle has gotten much more often, she used to let me know when she needed to go outside, but now, sometimes she does not have enough time to let me know.. This happens when she is napping, and i am assuming because of her age. I have some diapers for her, and when I have a long day, I have to put it on her before I leave. |
i dont like the pee pee pads. when i got Sunnie it was in Febuary and i was afraid of him getting sick so i kept him on them untill it started to warm up. then i started taking him outside all the time and he did great. the thing i found with pee pee pads is a rug looks like a pee pee pad and they will pee on that, same with a blanket or sweater or something. |
