Wow!! Sounds like you have your hands full. Get a can of spray (dog off) and spray the areas that your dog frequents or tie some cans together and toss them off to the side every time you see your baby being a terror...Crate training is the best and you must keep your part of the bargain by taking your baby outside as soon as you get home. Try not to leave your baby in the crate any longer than one month more than his/her age in months. For instance, 4 month old/5 hours....6 month old/7 hours and so on. Baby will soon get the message because they do not like to use the bathroom where they sleep. Be stern and stick to a schedule so baby will not get confused. Good luck... |

It's nice to know that some of our yorkies do share alot in common. I could not imagine the mischief that my comet would cause if he were not crate trained. Kudos to you too Stitches 29! |
I can't believe how many reponses i have recieved from you all.. I have taken everything you've said into consideration... Someone mentioned bordom.. That might be her problem.. I have a busy schedule right now and once the beginning of June comes, I've have more time to spend with Mocha to work on her training... She is doing better with her potty... I notice sheshe goes into her crate around 11:00 for bed and wakes me up at 3:30.. I notice her crate is dry so i take her out and put her on the pad and she pees.. Then its back to bed until 6 and then i'll put her on the pad and she'll go.. Then it is breakfast time and then walk time.. She pees in her crate during the day but on the paper part of it (i keep water with her) and then i take her out as soon as i get home and keep her out for the night when i am around..I close the bed room and the bathroom door and she has run of my livingroom/dining area.. The biting is what we need to work on but i am glad her potty stuff is going ok.. I also got her to sit.. Now i need to learn shake, lay, stay, and heel |
Oh Brooke that is wonderful. Sounds like you are on your way to a happy home. Breaking the biting cycle may have to hurt more than you. If all the bitter tonics don't work, then a thump on the nose might. That is working better for me than anything. As I give Maggie a quick thump, I tell her NO BITE. After the thump she sneezes and strikes at me again, (just like a rattlesnake) without biting. Kinda cute. It's like she's getting the last word in. If she could talk, it would be the shortest little curser in town. |
Stitches, Thank you for all of the advice... I usually tap her on the nose or on her bottom (i am too scared to hit her hard).. My grandmother really smacked her a couple of weeks ago and I swear, Mocha has never tried to go after her again.. I am just too scared I'll hit her too hard and turn into a bad mommy :( |
