I don't know about all Yorkies being like that when you blow dry them but dang don't they all look alike wet! It looks like you got nmine in that sink!! Be really careful when you are blow drying him all with the drier in one spot. try it on your arm, when the drier stays in one spot it does get really hot on that spot! My sister lives in NY and she is a groomer, one of the first things she told me is to always move the drier around UNLESS the girls are in a crate so they can move around. NEVER hold it in one spot too long. Since I don't groom mine often and when I dfo I don't dry them all the way, I really don't know first hand, just what she told me.:) |
True, I mean i do move it around but now like the way i blow dry my hair. hahha. Yes when they shower they all look alike. hahhaa.:p Quote:

ok I thought that was what you meant but better safe then sorry. :yelrotflm I just mentioned it in case you were a dizzy yorkie owner (just kidding) :yelrotflm |
Teddy also doesn't like being blowdried but I find that he just hates the wind on his face so he covers his face when I do it and stays still that way. Maybe your baby doesn't like the air in his face and the noise. I would try to face him the other way and see how he acts or put a towel down so if he wants he can cover his face in it. |
Peeka used to hate the bath he and his brother Boo would cry the whole time i started using treats while i was bathing them and they seem to be fine now. I don't fill the sink with water i just use my sprayer on my sink like a shower the part he hates the most is the combing of the eye boogers lol but i give him a firm tone when he acts up and praise him when he is goo and the last few baths have been great!! Peeka will actually whine at my feet while i'm bathing Boo because he wants his turn for the attention lol. Now blow drying he isn't thrilled with but he will tolorate i have my hand down on his body so i can feel if it gets to hot. He hates his face dried so i dry him pretty good and brush him a little then i throw a towel on the floor and he goes to town rubbing himself dry it's quite funny to watch then when he is done i will spray a leave in on his brush him and he is done. |
Both of my girls tolerate their baths without a lot of problems. I bath them in the kitchen sink with lukewarm water. I wet their faces first with a wet cotton ball so that the hair begins to soften (mine get pretty crusty) and it makes it much easier on them. They don't mind the rinse too much except their face area. Abbie will now even sit still for that! After bathing I wrap them in a fluffy towel and hold them for a bit. Time for a nice snuggle. When I think they're ready, I put the towel back in the bottom of the sink with them still in it and open it up to expose part of their body. I then begin the blow drying process. They usually just bury their little heads while I blow them dry and (knock wood) have never attempted to get away. They seem to like being in the sink as the dry. I use to do it on the floor and they would run every chance they got. Now, they seem to relax and enjoy it. Lucy, the baby, will fall asleep on her back while I dry and comb her out. I know I'm lucky to have such easy bathtimes. They're bathed once a week so the had to get used to it. Also, I do their faces about twice a week. Hope this helps. |
I bathe Ferdie in the bathtub and I sit on the side with my feet in. I put two little rubber duckies in there also. He's gotten a LOT better. But he does hate the blowdrier, so I wrap him up in a towel and hold him for 5-10 minutes to get his body mostly dry. Then I just brush him dry. Lately I've been blowing him a little when I blow dry my hair, and now he's kind of getting used to it. He still hates getting blow dried, but he's getting a little better. |
Bathing & Blow Drying I bathe my dog in the bath tub and I am there with him and I keep the glass door closed so he wouldnt be able to jump out. I fill the tub like 1/4 of the way and I use a big plastic cup to wash him. ANd I think he feels more at ease that I am in there with him. Dunks is pretty good with the bath, its the cutting his hair & nails, cleaning his ears, and brushing him that he hates. After his bath, I dry him off with a towel, then I put him down on the bathroom floor. There he would run around. I usually use a protable heater and set it on low and he would just sit in front of it. When I do use a blow dryer, he would run around thinking I was playing with him, but I just follow him with the blow dryer wherever he goes. So you might want to try the portable heater thing... might work for your baby... :) |

I started putting both of mine in the shower with me. Someone here suggested that a long time back. I also have the bathroom door closed, so they can't escape when blowdrying them. Yea, they do a lot of moving in my small bathroom, and it takes about 10 minutes to get both of them dry. They're not wild about blowdrying, but they now tolerate it. I also try to "rub" then when blowdrying too. They love that part, and will lay still, as long as the dryer is far enough away. |
Mine HATES to get his face blow dried too..............you'd think I'm trying to kill him.... It gets done but it takes a while in our house ;) |
