Won't go potty... This is his first day home. He's been home since 1ish(5pm now) and nothing's happened. Should I be worried yet, or just wait it out? He's been fed 2x and has had water. |
crap, should've put this in the sick forum ;) |
Are you sure he hasn't gone and you just didn't see it. When they are so small it's hard to tell when they are going. |
I dont think he has, his pee pad isnt wet and there's nothing in his crate... |
well he peed...I let him out and he peed...right on the carpet  Thanks everyone.... puppies... |
I think it is normal for them not to want to go to the bathroom right away at a new home. Destiny didn't go to the bathroom for 3 days when I first got her. I was so worried but after she had time to adjust she was fine. Glad to know yours went already. |
Awww, he just doesn't know what that wee wee pad is for yet. Give her time. I hope you have the pad in an X pen, and not the crate. They don't like to go to the bathroom in the same area they sleep in normally. |

I thought mine wasn't going potty either. I panicked thinking he had kidney failure. He was only in the kitchen and the breeder told me he was litter trained so I figured he was sick. I took him to the vet and everything. Then I bought a black light. He had been peeing on my kitchen rug! I didn't notice because he doesn't squat or lift his leg. He just kind of stands still!. Out went the rug and litter and I outside trained him. |

Your giving your baby too much free reign on the house. They should be confined to an "area" when you first get them. If not, they will learn fast to pee and poop anywhere they darn well please. You need an X-pen. Also, peeing and pooping in the crate is a very bad habit. And they don't normally like to poo or pee where they sleep. Pee pads should NOT be in a crate. |
He will eventually go. Did you change his food or is it the same from what the breeder was giving him? It could be some anxiety of being in a new place. |

NOOOOO! Now he refuses to poop unless its on the carpet!! |
Oh no.....you leave him in there long enough, and he will poop!!! Gotta out wait him! Also you might want to check his hiney. I know seems most of us have had hair matted on their butts at least once keeping them from pooping. |

whats an X-pen? |
I'm sure someone will post a pic of an x-pen. If not, look above on the dark blue bar that says "User CP". Keep going across till you see "search". Use the search engine. Its a pen you use to keep smaller dogs in thats wonderful to potty train. Usually they are big enough to put the crate and toys in one end and pee pads at the other end. Thats where they learn to pee and poop on the pads. I'd suggest a tall one, cause lots of yorkies will learn to climb out. I know mine did! You give them too much free space to roam around your house, they will pee and poop everywhere. The x-pen keeps them confined to one smaller area. |
Is it going any better now? |
