Rocky's enrolled We enrolled him for petsmart basic training today! He won't start until the 11th (i believe) of next month. I've been working with him, but there's still some commands that he is not catching on with, plus I think it will be a great social experience for him. I'm hoping he'll learn to stop getting over excited whenever he sees another dog. Has anyone else done petsmart training and has any reviews on it? |
Have fun Rae Rae- kudos to ya for workin' your Yorkie! ;) |
Oh...and I forgot to mention...it's for my bf too! He needs to learn how to train a dog. When I tell him why you can't do something, he continues to do it (like once Rocky nipped at his finger, so he scolded Rocky and told him no..then kept putting his finger by Rocky's mouth to see if Rocky listened ) |
Today I just enrolled my Bailey in the Puppy class at Petsmart so I hope he learns well!! :D |
let me know how it goes, i need a class for mine, hes sooo excited and he never relaxes, also i need some help and consistency with potty training, that sounds funny, pee pee training, |
Training is great When we bought Piper, 6 weeks of puppy training came along with him. He learned to go potty in his litter box at training, and to settle, and how to play with pups. Yorkies are very smart, and mine is very treat motivated, so he was a star in the class. We had him go through another 6 week class at a different facility we thought would be better (just finished), and boy were we wrong! The teachers there were really bad--not good with explanation, or working with the dog. But, they would set up the activity ring--the jumps, and tunnels, and Piper loved that! And, again, he was the best at it! There were all these herding dogs, etc. in class, and they were knocking down the jumps and looking very uncoordinated, and there was little four pound Piper, an agile superstar! Some training is worth it, some is not, you will know how you feel about the trainer, and how the trainer feels about your dog (the second set of trainers we had didn't think "little dogs" could feel comfortable doing commands), but it still socializes your dog and makes him or her braver in the world! Good luck, and just have fun! |
I really think Rocky's going to love training classes. I work with him at home, but he LOVES going to petsmart, and meeting other doggys. So I'm doing it also as a fun thing for him to do, plus socialization. He's usually good with other dogs (except occasionally he won't like another dog), but I really want him to stop crying whenever he doesn't get to go and meet every dog he sees. If he likes this, I'll probably sign him up for the agitlity (sp) classes also. I'll let you guys know how it goes :) |
