Lexy will not mind! Lexy loves to be outside with Cinder, but will not come in when I call her! She knows exactly what I'm saying too! She runs from me and I couldn't catch her if I hadn't just had knee surgery! Even though we are out there with her, I'm afraid she will run into the street. She is so fast, we couldn't catch her. I suppose she will be on a leash from now on when she is outside. Any tips on training her to come back to me would be appreciated! The little Toot! |
I just cannot imagine wittle wexy doing anything wrong :p Bentley used to do that too and it would scare me to death. Once he ran down our street and a neighbors dog, a BIG dog, had gotten loose and was rolling Bentley on the pavement like a football. I ran as fast as I could nearly having a heart attack and was ready to take that dog apart with my bare hands. There were some boys sitting on their bikes right in the middle of it and didn't do ANYTHING! They got a mouthful from me! He doesn't do that anymore though. I think he FINALLY realizes the grass is NOT greener outside of our yard!!! :) |
Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you. Trace used to come immediately when he was outside, now he's decided he doesn't have to  When we go outside at work, he's now on a harness. I just don't see any other way around it. We are on a busy, busy street and cars cut through our parking lot. I'm gonna get some treats and try those at home. Perhaps he'll learn coming to mommy is a good thing. I did train my golden the parameter's of our yard by walking her along the property line on a lease and pulling her back w/ scolding her if she went past. It worked, but I think Trace is too tiny to try that |
i havent taken toby off the leash outside, but i think he would come if hes called.... he never lets me get very far away..... i bought an extenda leash and we have been practiving with that, it sort of gives the illusion of being "free" when they arent really, and you still have the control |
Put a leash on her, you don't have to hold on to it. Just let her roam around with it on. You will be able to catch her better and reel her in. She will learn she can't get away from you and has to come everytime you call. I have also kept mine on a leash in the house before when one of mine would dart out the door. She learned not to do that anymore too. |
Thanks Jodi! That's a good idea! |
Scrappy is the same way he dosent come when i call him finally my husband fenced in back yard so he can run when i call him now to come in he does it . :) |
