Pee pad vs litter box? My pup's using pee pad, he either goes on it or (with poop) right next to it. I think he thinks as long as his two first paws are on it, he's good... I was wondering about switching for a litter box, but do I put a pad inside? How many people use doggie litter instead? I think setting some boundaries around his potty space will help him in not missing the pad anymore... |
I tried the litter box once.. The cat used it but not the pups even with tne Dog liter in it. so I would say if you have a cat stick to the wee pads. |
Pee Pad or Litter box i too am considering this for my 6 month old pups:animal-pa |
Some have litter boxes and they put a pad inside, and some use the litter. I think from what I've read on here though, most put a pee pad in them. I read a suggestion the other day, that you can get any kind of plastic box, and do this, as long as you cut the part out where they walk into it. I think I'm going to try that one. I hate paying what they charge for a dog litter box! I have what most call here a "walking pooper". She starts out on the pad, but then walks before it "drops". |
I use the litter box with the pee pad in it. it works great. I also had a "walking pooper" |

Love our litter box! We bought the box and litter that Purina markets. I didn't find it to be rediculously expensive and it is a heavy nice looking box. We tried cheaper litter products and haven't found them to work as well, they tend to stay wet longer. The up side to using litter in the box instead of pads, in my opinion, is that I don't think a pad will go a week between changing. If the poo is cleaned out after use our litter can easily go a week between changes, not that it does regularly. Hope it works for you as well as it has for us. |
I have 3 yorkies, Jazzi is 1 1/2 yrs. and Auggie and Roxy are both 3 yrs. Do you think they're too old to litter train? Also if they're not too old will I need more than one box? I really don't want to line my walls with 3 boxes. I wasn't sure if I should have started a new thread or just be a Budinski with my question on the same subject. So I chose the polish kid. :scratchhe |

Just a suggestion, see if you like the idea ... I use it when we travel (by car)... don't think I'd pack it on a plane trip.... |

I use the litter box with pee pad in it. |
I use the litter box with the pad in it. This way he has to get inside the box to go and he cannot miss it. |
wee pad Jay Tee is using the wee pad but I can't get him to go in the box only on the pad if it is on the floor. he doesn't like jumping in the box. The other problem I have with him he doesn't come then I call him. He thinks I am playing with him any he backs up. He has learned to sit and lay down but can't get him to come when I call him yet. Any help Hanna |

 I put pee pads in the pen @ 3 weeks and the babies start using them. My friend uses kitty litter in a shallow pan @ 3 weeks with the same results. I can start letting them out when they're a little older and they run for the pad and make it most of the time! |
