18 month yorkie peeing in crate our 18 month old yorkie has had a problem peeing in her crate. she has had bladder infections that were cleared up with antibiotics. i thought there was something else physically wrong with her and had the vet run x-rays and blood work. Nothing! still peeing in crate. we cut down the size of her crate and took the towel that she was laying on out. i started to come home at lunch (just like when she was a puppy). she went a couple of days without peeing but decided today to start back up again. i am at my wits end. she hardly EVER drinks water. never saw a dog drink so little water like her. HELP! |
Are you absolutely sure that you have the crate as small as you possibly can make it? When she lays down, there doesn't need to be any space that she doesn't touch. I had a hard time with my male peeing in his crate. I had to finally make his crate about 6"x6". It was tiny, but it made him stop peeing in his crate. I could not leave her in her crate more than about 4 hours at a time. And also don't restrict her water. Restricting her water causes bladder infections. Have it available to her at all times. |
How long do you leave your baby in the crate? |

Making her crate area smaller might only frustrate you both more: You, because she appears to be purposefully disobedient; and she for being unable to live up to your expectations. |
thanks so much! |
she isn't even making it 4 hours. funny thing is she makes it all nite long (8-9 hours) |

I agree with this.   |
Have you tried an x-pen during the day? You put their crate on one end, with food, water and toys. Then pee pad at the other end. If you need to leave for extended time, like going to work all day, this might be a better way to do this for your baby. |
will check this out...thanks! |
