You need to make your husband "the keeper of all good things". Hubby needs to feed Dexter, give Dexter his new toys & new bones, be the one who plays with him and takes him for walks. For a while, at least, hubby should be a "walking treat dispenser" - he should give Dexter treats randomly and often (but only when Dexter is behaving and calm). Also, encourage hubby to not get into staring matches with Dexter - dogs view this as "I want to fight"; try to teach your husband how to use soft eyes (like how you look at a baby). Last, I expect that Dexter is doing this to protect you. If you think that's true, you need to have more time in the house when Dexter is separated from you. He needs to learn that he can cope on his own. Make sense? |
Great advise FirstYorkie. I was going to say pretty much the same thing. It is amazing how they change from one day to the next. Wonder what goes through their little heads. |
http://www.dogchannel.com/experts/ce...aspx?WT.srch=1 Here is the dog whisperer website. If the dog is snapping growling snarling or protesting in any manner it shows that he is not respectful of you and your husbands positions as pack leaders. Check out this site to find out how to change that. don't let it go, it will not resolve itself on its own. It will take action on your part. |
