Bellas Big Adventure After finding out that I will have to fly miss Bella as checked bagage back home (8.5hr flight) I have been trying to prepare her as best as possible. Today I decided to take her along with me to run erands around the city. I was pleasently suprised at her calm behaviour on the subway and walking the very busy streets downtown. I didn't have her in a carry-all, she walked the whole time or sat in my lap. I know the whole air travel thing is going to be tramatic, but she seems to be very comfortable with strange, load noises and different enviroments. We have a month before the big take off day, so my plan is to keep on exposing her to new situations. Maybe I had really low epectations but she was so well mannered I was proud! |
Why can't she fly in the cabin with you? |

Most International flights have discontinued their in cabin services as of April 2006. Apperently they say it has to do with allergy complaints, I think it has to do with security. Anyways, my hands are tied as we need to get home. I feel terrible, but it isn't the worst thing that could happen. |
Aww, that's a shame! I wasn't aware of that, thank you for the info! |
I was under the impression that temperatures aren't regulated in the belly of the plane (luggage area) |
Aww, so sorry she can't ride with you. I hope she's used to her crate. I read a post here not too long back, that someone's dog got lost in the baggage. She'd went to pick him up, and there was no dog in there! She did get her yorkie back, but it was after a lot of heartache and getting escorted out of the airport, and several hours later they called her. Make sure you put one of those white ties on her crate....the kind you can cut loose if needed, but they keep someone from taking her out, and playing with her, and not putting her back in. Not trying to freak you out here, just seen it happen before here, maybe a month or so ago. |
Cabins where live animals are kept are temp. controlled these days, a long time ago, they werent. Dogs were put with luggage, but now they are kept in a seperate part of the plane. I'm sure Bella will do great! Keep exposing her to new things! |
