Pee on Pads.. Poop on floors.. Penny pees on the pads.. n every morning, 1 foot away from the pad, she poops.:thumbdown I try to discipline her.. but all she does is start shaking.. n looks so sad.. she makes THE FACE.. and I've learned to ignore it somehow.. but I really don't know what to do.. She's so good w/her #1 on the pads.. HELP! |
I just saw another post about this tonight. That post said her Yorkie will only pee on one pad and will poop on a different one. Will not do both on the same pad. My Jazzie is the same except she like to pee in the pad in the master bath and poop by the sliding glass door to the back yard. Funny how prissy they can be. Jazzie will roll up her pee pad (not the poop one) after she uses it just once as if she's saying "Mom! Clean it up!" Try putting down two pads. Maybe Penny is a two pad girl too! |
I don't know if this is what's happening, but I have had similar problems with Bella. She is accurate about 80% of the time, but I don't think the missing is intentional. What I think is happening is that she doesn't realize her butt is not over the pad when the rest of her body is. Then she sorta walks and poops, so little bits trail. I dont get mad because if she were outside acuracy wouldn't be an issue. I try and move her if I catch her moving away from the pad, but other then that I dont know if there is anything that can actually be done to solve this one. |
Diezel is king of this... I have been going through more and more pads lately. And he always aims for the pad but misses half of the time. Sooooo what I did to protect my floors at least (still leaks underneath) Is I got one of those clear plastic runner and cut it big enough so that there is about 3 inches sticking out from underneath the pad tray. I have hard wood floors so I refuse to let the pee soak into this. I also find he will go on the pad more becuase I assume the lil bumps in the plastic is an annoying feeling in his pads. |
Drats Last night, I put a clean pad in its usual place and another clean pad in the place she poops (the floor 1 foot away from the pad).. I woke up to NO poopie and pee on boTH! She's confusing me.. |
Try a frame... Emma does this too...super annoying. Try getting one of those pad frames from PetSmart-this helped her realize when she's ON the pad because she has to step over it, rather than just onto it. I think they run about $15, but well worth it if it works. Also helps keep her from folding it up, pee leaking underneath, and her tearing up pads. Still...she does miss sometimes, but I find it's much better with the frame than without. |

Yea.. she had one of those before.. so she's good w/the peeing.. she's just got the prblem with connecting her poop to the pad. :( |

Here is a quick & cheap fix for "missing" because the but's hanging over syndrome... Get a cat litter pan. They have to hop in to use the pad + SUPER BONUS! Your floor stays nice and dry! |
I use a cat litter pan. For pee pee, Siu Pao is starting to lift his leg now. For the first few days, he misses almost everytime and shoots the floor and wall instead but now he is getting better in targeting the newspaper as he doesn't get a treat if he misses the spot.As for poop, it is a whole different story. He poops near the main door.If I block off the area, he will poop in his litter box but only if the pee pad is completely dry. One small spot of urine and he will not poop there *sigh* and he just poop on the carpet-->his 2nd time since I got him 1 1/2 months ago because I carried him away while he was playing with another puppy because they were over excited. He wasn't happy about it and poop on the carpet...People say dogs don't keep their anger and lash back but I swear he knows what he is doing! I also have problems housebreaking him. He pees and poos before or after he goes out but very very seldom he does it outside. Its a Yorkie thing I guess. |
My little girl does the same thing she pees on the pad and poops on the floor. I am going to get one of the trays next time I go to Pet smart because she too chews it up or ruffs it up rather. |
I'm having the same exact problem with Venus in the kitchen. She'll come close to the pad, but miss it entirely. Least its on the same side of the room! |
Have you found a solution yet? Joey does the same thing. He’s great at going pee on the pads, but poops in lots of different locations. I have several pads in the room. Nancy |
I know Penny always poops in the morning.. around 5 or 6 which is REALLY early for me. I have this theory, which I haven't tried out yet, that if I watch her the entire time she's wandering around looking for a place for her poop, then I could lead her to the pad. BUT I am never awake then.. so I tried my second theory. I put Penny's poop on the pad. Show her before, when on the wrong place, and scold her. Then show her the right place to poop. Put her poopy there. I did try this out. I'm still working on it.. but she has pooped on her pad three times now.. and I give her a little puperoni when ever she does it!!! |
Cash does this also. I try to watch him when i know he needs to poop and what he does is go to his litter box squats and starts to poop but before the poop comes out he'll hop out of there. I think he's scared he's going to step in it. This happens everytime and when he hops out, that's when the poop lands on the floor and not the pad. So i try to keep a eye on him and when he has to go, i make sure he stays in there and sometimes I hold him down in there cuz he has balance problems (he lifts his hind legs up too high). This usually works but only when I'm watching. when i'm not, it's the chances are 50-50 that i find poop on the floor. |
I have the same problem with Abbey. Here is what I think is going on. When I take my little poodle out to pee and poop, she NEVER poops in the same place she pees. She willl pee then move on to another area to poop. My other dogs have all done the same thing. So...my theory is that Abbey pees on the paper (a real good thing!) and then moves to another spot to poop. I have a pad holder that holds 2 pee pads and I have now put down another pad near by. However, Abbey didn't quite get the meaning of having 2 places. She pees on both but sometimes will poop on the one that has never been used before. So, I am going to have to work on this theory some more to allow Abbey to get my drift. Anyway, that is my humble opinion on why she pees on the paper and poops on the floor. Ellie |

Ellie your humble opinion shows you have a fine and logical mind! I think you are absolutely right. I have 3 pads in living room dinning area and Joey pees on all three, but only occasionally poos on them. I started putting newspaper on top of pad because he wanted to use pad only once, this way all I have to do is change the newspaper and he seems happy to use them again and again. I think they need a special poo spray because Simple Solution only seems to attract urine. Nancy |
Little Lazaros does the same thing ALL THE TIME! He'll pee on his pad, but when he poops it's 50-50 that he does it on the pad I'm actually going to the vet tomorrow for something else, I'm gonna ask him what he thinks and then I'll post it here tomorrow night  |
Abbie is paper-trained. I know, I'm probably the only one still using newspaper with the pads out there; but....we figured we buy the newpaper, why not recycle? lol Anyway, Abbie will NOT poo on a newspaper that's been pee'd on. We have to give her clean RIGHT AWAY, or she'll step to the side and poo on the floor. If we stay alert, she'll make the paper. Well, except for times she's STANDING on the paper and her rear is on the floor. |

Nancy, that is a great idea of putting newspaper on the pad. I had not thought of that. Abbey is the same, she will pee on a pad more than once, but she will not use a pad again once she has pooped on it. I clean it up immediately, but it makes no difference, she won't use it again. I will try putting a newspaper on one pad and see what happens. Maybe we should write Simple Solution to make a scent to attract poop. I do love Simple Solution products. Ellie |
What else does Simple Solutions make besides the spray? Nancy |
The products I use are the Simple Solution Jump Start house training pads, Simple Solution potty training spray and the very best one of all is the Simple Solution Odor and Stain Remover. It removes all odors and any stain from carpet when they have an 'accident'. Even old ones. I love it! Ellie |
I'm so happy to hear that my Tinkerbelle isn't the only one who won't poop on a dirty pad. And she folds them up too after pottying! Gotta be a Yorkie thing, my poodle never did that. My poor carpet is taking a beating - she's 10 wks old so we have a long way to go with the potty training. Any helps for carpet cleaning out there? |
I have this problem with Howie, too. He used to poo on the pad all the time and miss with his peeing. Now, he's doing better with the peeing, but going elsewhere when he poos! I have no idea what's going on with him. :p |
max does this too and it is really starting to wear on me. he always pees outside unless its raining and i know to put a pad down cause he wont go out if its raining. i keep a pad in the laundry room for him to poop on, he has only pooped outside one time since ive had him.. i dont know why, but it is starting to try my patience. he either poops on the floor in the laundry room, in front of the front door or in the dang living room. id rather him go in the laundry room or in front of the door, both places are tile and easy to clean. of course id rather him use the pad or go outside, but he refuses. i dont know what to do, ive even thought of trying to litter box train him. i pick the poop up, tell him "no poop inside" take him and the poop outside and say "go poop" while showing him the spot.. im at a loss i really dont know what to do. and we rent, its making a mess of the carpet, i did find something that gets the stain out but sheesh |
How old is Max? It seems like he’s doing great if most pee’s going outside. You could try putting newspaper all over floor of laundry room and praise the heck out of him when it’s on the paper. Gradually reduce the amount of paper. Nancy |
