humping My 4 month old female yorkie has started humping things... is this normal? I didn't know that females humped too. |
I have heard that females or males will do this "humping" thing when they are trying to show dominance. although it may be embarassing when you have company, it's perfectly normal. :D |
We got Lucky from a Humane Society. She had been spayed just before we got her, and when we brought her home, she humped everything. She would even be agressive when we tried to stop her. They told us that she was trying to assert her dominance and that she still had some hormones from before she was spayed. They said that it would pass in a week or two and it did. She hasn't humped anything since, so apparently having her spayed stopped the behavior. |
dianne :) my 5 pound silky used to hump her teddy on the floor all the time and your right it was rather embarassing  but if we had visitors they would think it was really funny :lol tears I would just distract her with something else maybe another toy ...good luck :thumbs_up |

it's really a dominant behaviour. I wouldn't worry about it too much... |
Gizmo has started humping and he is three months old. I thought he was too young to be doing that. I've had him 10 days and it's like he's not a baby anymore ... lol. |
my scrappy use too hump his toys but not no more he goes after my shih-tu and she is spayed. :) |
Humping Our Kodi is 13 weeks old and has been humping on me but he never humps on my husband. I have heard it is a dominance thing. Kodi thinks my husband is the alpha in our house and I think he is letting me know that I am low man in our house. |
My friend's Malts hump stuff. They're females. They also do other weird motherly type stuff. Stewie only humps his teddy bear when I playfully attack him with it. After I put it down, he humps it to show it that he is still the boss. He's 6mos old. |
Magic started humping when we got Sailor....she did it alot at first but now it only seems to happen when Sailor tries to do something Magic doesn't like...we sternly tell her no and she tends to stop...I hope it goes away with age!!! |
