Pups eat pee pads   So we have two pups right now one is a 9 week old yorkie female (laila), the other is a 6 month old male (teddy). When we fist got teddy he was really good about going on the pee pads, then when we got laila she was VERY good about going on them. But now they still go on them but they use them and then distroy them! laila diggs and tears it, then teddy comes a long and eats it, poop and all. and i come home to a big mess. Why do they distroy there pee pads?? and its not always after they go, sometimes i will put it in there and with in minutes i hear digging and its all torn up. I have it in a big pen that i keep them in when i am not home. and i open it when im am home and they go in and out to use the pee pad (most of the time). How do i get them to stop this and how to i get teddy to stop eating poop... his breath is SO bad  |
Wyatt use to do that too...but i went out to petsmart and bout this thing called...simple solution training pad holder...it holds down all the sides of the paper..but as far as tearing the middle that doesnt work...but if they are pulling up the sides of the paper this thing works...and they still know that they are suppose to use it there... |
oh ya i forgot to put that i use that pad holder and ther rip it out of there.. they are monsters, cute ones tho.. :D |
now as far as eating poop im not sure cause wyatt doesnt do this...but im sure theres a thread on here about that.... :goodluck: |
every so often my 2 munchkins will play and tear the pads as well . . .new or used! But it only happens when they are left alone together and I am not around . . .I think they are such attention-seekers :p . Annika eats poop too sometimes but I read that this habit will eventually go away . . .oh dear, I do hope so! I just try to watch out for when Tiger poops as that seems more appetizing to her than her own  |
you can order the reusable pee pads from piddlepads.com and you wont have to worry about them tearing up. they are really worth the money in the long run. |
I taped mine to the floor, seemed to cure Venus playing with it, and tearing it up. |
Petco Pet Gold I was having that problem with the Simple Solutions so I went to Petco and got the Petgold which is smaller but the pads are thicker & the holder has a base and one piece top that is much easier to use. I find I like it better but don't know if it would solve your problem or not. Good luck.:) |
Our CoCo is a little poop-eater as well. We caught her doing it and scolded her for it, and she seems to have gotten the idea and stopped doing it. CoCo also tore at the pads, so we use only purina dog litter now. She chews on the paper pellots sometimes, but it's not nearly as much of as mess as the pads were. Usually the mess consists of two or three pellots on the floor of her play pen. |
Poptart loved tearing up his pads, it was his absolute favorite thing to do. I could not stand it, you would see pieces of pad everywhere, and they were soiled pieces of pad. I also tried a pad holder. It didn't work, he would grab the middle of the pad with his teeth and manage to tear it into shreds. So I outsmarted him and bought the reusable/washable pads. No more tearing up pads!!!! I am soooo glad I got them, just wish I would have gotten them sooner!!! |
My dogs sometimes tear up their pads also. Whenever I'm not holding them, they get maad so they decide to get attention by ripping their pads up! I saw a post before about eating poo. If you give them cheap dog food, then they think that their poo is similar to their food so they eat it because theire hungry. It sounds ridiculous but it might be true. I'm not sure what food you ARE feeding them though. Hope I didn't offend you guys. :( |
