I Poop When Mommy Leaves Ruby is housetrained, but has gotten to where she poops (in the same spot) when my husband is watching her while I am away, even for an hour. I told him to leave here in her crate or keep her shut in the room with him while I'm gone, but, you know how husbands listen. I understand this is a separation anxiety thing, she used to pee a bit when she got excited (like someone came over), but we stopped by saying hello and goodbye calmy and not making a big deal of leaving/arriving, etc... She is crate trained and always stays in it when nobody is home...she only poops for him when I leave, not for me when he leaves , although she loves him very much...I just got a job so I am gone more, but he is home more because his law school is over...Ok, so what can we do besides leave her in her crate...sometimes I am gone overnight so leaving her in there that long is obviously not an option...any ideas? :( |
Ruby might just be feeling a little anxious w/ you being away. When your hubby takes her out does he take her to her potty spot? Maybe now that you will be away from home more a play pen / den of larger size might work? I believe there a few members here who use them and seem real happy with them. They have an area to sleep, play, potty, eat/drink, etc. Room to roam sorda speak...This way they don't feel so confined in a crate for hours on end. If not, maybe you can confine her to a easy to clean room like a laundry or service porch area? Just a thought... :p |
I actually have this SAME problem. ANY time I leave Tia with my husband, she either poos or pees. Even if it's just to go to the bathroom - basically my husband has to keep a VERY close eye on her - she knows who is in charge ;) |
Maybe right after you leave your hubby could take the dog out to do #2...if he goes then no crate...if not maybe some crate time then try again in about 15mins until he goes. Chris |
that is a good idea...when she pooed inside yesterday, he had just taken her out, but she only peed while outside...I will tell him about this idea...thanks! |
