Big Step Back Bella has been doing so well with the potty training (using pee pads in the house), but the last few days she has started to pee anywhere right in front of me. Not just once but several times within the same time frame. I am pretty sure this is out of defience or something because she will pee on the pad at other times and always poohs on it. I have yelled no when I catch her doing it. Clean it up in front of her and continue to tell her no. Is there something else I should do? Is this a stage for her? Testing her limits? DOes she need more attention? HELP! |
I would return to the crate training or whatever method you first used to start potty training. I would only let her run around and play for a few minutes if she just pottied on her pad. |
I am pen training her, but I cant leave her in there all the time. She will pee on her pad and then 10 minutes later go pee in the middle og the kitchen floor. It isn't a matter of needs to pee, I think she is being defiant, trying to get attention possibly?? She has been whining at us a lot lately to...needs constant attention. Just maybe needs some extra lovin right now, but I dont want to give into bossy behaviour. I know Yorkies can be bossy and needy like that. |

I would mention it to the vet just in case it's an infection. |
3months next week. Still a baby. She is just learning, but I thought it was odd that she just started doing it out of the blue. |
Our yorkie puppy is almost 14 weeks, and we have a similar problem. She always goes in her litter box when she's in the pen (learned that the first day), but when she is outside playing, she seems to forget and go wherever she happens to be when she needs to go. From what I understand, at that age, it's still hard for them to control their bladder, even if they know where they are supposed to go. We spray both pet deodorizer and vinegar in spots where she has accidents and that seems to at least prevent her from having an accident in the same spot. But I think 4 months is the very earliest one can expect bladder control from a toy breed. And for many, it may be 5 or 6 months. |
shes still a baby...it takes time...Ladys almost 9 months and maybe a month ago just started really not having any accidents....it take some time...be patient |
3 months is stilltoo young.. lexi was backing up just a few months ago and it drove me nutso.. just be patient ok... just watch the puppy closely thats all. |
Thanks for the encouragement. I have been watching her much more closely, and she has continued to have accidents, but I catch her doing it and move her to the pee pad. She knows she is in trouble when I catch her peeing somewhere else, and runs off to the corner and just looks at me like she knows I am disapointed. I think in general she will be fine, and thank goodness I have mostly hardwood floors! Easy fast clean-up! |
lexi is now 19 months and slips sometimes, why?? beats the heck outta me. she knows where her wee pads are too... this morning i woke to find poop on my livingroom run that my b/f just shampooed yesterday... so you see, it happens, dont worry. i couldnt say anything to her cause i didnt see her do it, so i just cleaned it up and went about ny business.. oh well gotta deal with it... they are just little rascals |
