Hard Headed Yorkie - Frustrated Mom Hello, I'm Gracie's Mom. Gracie is a 3-1/2 year old Yorkie female. She has a Chihuahua sister, Ally 6-1/2 years old. I got Gracie when she was 11 weeks old. From day one Gracie, has not cared whether she piddled and poohed inside or out. I work full-time during the day - they remain in the sunroom with a baby gate blocking the rest of the house and the back door is open for access to the back yard - not to worry I have a 6 foot locked privacy fence. I have not had a piddle accident from Gracie in a while. However, most days she will have a pooh waiting for me when I come home or she will give me one before I leave for work. Most of the time its like she make no effort to get to the back door. Ally is completely house trained and has not had an accident in over five years - I was hoping Gracie would take the cue from her older sister - but no luck. Has anyone else experienced this ? Any suggestions? |
Sounds like she's been doing this for quite a long time and just thinks it's a normal thing. If she's that consistent about the timing of it, maybe you could catch her before she goes and get her outside...you've probably already tried that, I just realized how ridiculous that sounded after I typed it. You could also try "boot camp" for a weekend. Get a long leash and attach it to your waist and Miss Gracie gets to be with you ALL DAY. Watch her cues...circling, squatting, etc, and take her out as soon as you notice. It's a pain in the rear, but eventually she will get it. You have to be consistent. Good luck! |
