Please help! Hello, I'm a new yorkie owner and new to this site, I have a few questions maybe someone can help with. #1. My 5 month old tea cup yorkie Luna will not stop biting, I understand she is teething, but I'm wondering if this is normal. She play attacks and bites all the time, she has plenty of chew toys and she gets alot of attention. #2. We have begun to train her to walk on a leash, but as soon as we put it on her, she turns her back to us and stays in one spot. Luna is so smart she potty trained with in a week, she listines to us when we tell her to sit, and she even does a little high five trick. I just don't understand what we are doing wrong. |
i dont know what youve done already to try to make her stop biting but ive always when they try bitting your hands and stuff put a toy in her mouth with the walking mabee shes just spoiled and doesnt want to walk when there that small i think just a walk around the house is tireing good luck :D we would love to see pics :D |
oh and welcome!!!!!!!!!!! |
Diesel used to be that way about walking on a leash when I first took him outside. So I took him over my parents house and let him run around their front yard without one just do he could get used to being out there. Next I let him wear his harness around the house so that he could also get used to having it on. He now understands that if he wants to go outside he must wear his harness and walk on a leash and it doesn't seem to bother him one bit. ~ Reagan |

As for the lead training. I’ve put up two posts previously. One in regard to a puppy who would not walk on a leash and one in regard to how to use a target stick to stop pulling. They are very long posts so please search for them. I hope they will answer your questions . One last thing, please do not refer to your puppy as a “teacup.” She is a Toy Dog. Best of luck to you and your puppy! |
Thank you! Thank you yorkipower, diesel's mommy, browniesmom622, for all your advice. All of this is going to help me out with Luna! I do need to set more ground rules as far as letting her bite our hands etc. And having more of a variety of textured toys, and I'm going to try to get her used to being outside a little more.... thanks again, I will post some photos of Luna soon. :) :) ;) :aimeeyork |
