Little pi$$er!!!!! Ok, this dog makes no sense to me!!!! Howie is 6 months old and recently "relapsed" and started peeing everywhere. For 3 whole days we were accident free!! He was an angel. It was incredible. Then, out of NOWHERE, he started peeing all over the place again. What is going on??? Why is he doing this??? Can anyone help? |
Are you going to neuter him? he is probably marking. i would get a belly band for him |
Do you use treats? With Stump everytime he would pee on his pee pad he would get a treat. And so he did it over and over again and got treats. Well we have kinda stopped giving him treats everytime and he started having accidents again. So we started the treat thing again and he is doing fine. Also if you are using treats, one tip I've learned is find his favorite small treat and use those. But only use those treats for pottying. Stump's favorite treats are these nawsome beef and cheese twists. And So I seperate them up and everytime he potties he gets one. He can see the bottle of them sitting by his pee pad. I think he looks up at them, and then is like okay I can do this to get one! It's really funny. |
I'm having a problem with Kona and Bernie too. Kona was doing great with potty training, then we got Bernie and she realized the accidents he was having. Then she thought it "didn't matter" where she went. So now my bf and I are pulling our hair out. We're trying the whole praise when they go on the pad, but it is hard to tell which one did it right. |

Good luck. |
I have two boys. They STOPPED marking when I made them some pee poles. I filled empty 2 litre coke bottles with water. I lay a piddle pad on the floor and set the bottle in the middle of it and drape it with another piddle pad! Now they hike there!!!!!!!!! |
Max is going to have to be neutered, even though I really don't believe in it. I'm not saying that those who do neuter their animals are wrong, it's just my belief. BUT, my sweet little angel has become paper trained for the yellow - not the brown yet. He just turned 8 months old. Last week, I got really nervous because he wasn't using the pads and I thought maybe he had a blockage. Well - I was wrong! Last night he marked me! He just lifted his tiny little leg and peed on my leg.I have seen him lift his leg once before. Obviously, he's spraying. I guess it's to the vet for him. My vet said he's going to have to wear a collar for about a week so that he doesn't eat the stitches. I really don't like that idea - do they all do that? I don't want to do this!!!! Judy |
I don't thing its just males, my 6 month old female will go a week, with no accidents, then all of a sudden, I find a real "wet spot" on the carpet again. I think I ticked her off real good when I went to the store, I crated her. Even with the board up, and the refrigerator shoving it back to the wall to hold the board into place, she still gets out. So here I go again, crating her when I leave. One more spot, and she will go nowhere in this house without me attached to her with a leash! |
Did you loosen up the rules? 3 days isn't saying much. Loki went about a week or two between accidents for a couple months before he stopped having them completely. Go back to the old rules and maybe that will help :) |

Thanks - that's a good idea - I can just take off the cone when I'm awake. I just read somewhere else on the board that someone put a onesie with the snaps on the back on her dog so her couldn't lick. Do I have to get him all the tests? They don't insist and they cost about $150. The neutering itself is around $200. I guess this kills about a week - I can't take him out shopping, etc. and I don't want to leave him alone until he's back to normal. Closet cleaning time for Mommy! Thanks, Judy |

You got a good price. My vet won't be in until Saturdaqy, so as soon as I speak to her, I'll decide about the tests. I'd like the tests because they cover some ailments that we all worry about with yorkies, so the peace of mind would be nice. The cost, at this moment, is high though. (I just retired from teaching and it takes a while to get our pension checks). Thanks, Judy |
