Pixie is TOAST! If she does not stop peeing on my white carpet!!! I know its totally my fault!!! She is the only one who can jump, or should I say FLY, over the gates... So she helps herself to full run of the house! And the house is her potty!! UGH!!!! I am having the carpets cleaned for the 3rd time today, I have only been in this house 5 months!!! (I know, I can hardly believe it myself!) The first two times there were like 10 pee spots.... this time there are like 25!!! She is in deep doo!!! I have to put an end to this once and for all!!!!! Its costing me 250 today!!! HELP!!! I'm open to any and all suggestions!! Do I tie her to my waist???? Crate her all day like a puppy and go back to basics?? What the heck should I do... she'll be a fricken year old this month (sept)!!! Give it to me straight guys!!! |

I am having the same trouble with my youngest Daisy. She will also be a year old in Sept. She just does not get the idea, I dont know what to do. Instead of hiring someone to shampoo my carpets I bought a rug doctor for $800. It seems like alot but like you said if you are paying 250 dollars today its worth it in the long run. Good Luck. |
Oh myyyyyyy!!!! Is she pad trained or does she go outside?? I would confine her to a area when she peepee on your rug...yes I know they can jump high!! Maybe double the gates on her. I have 2 baby gates and I put one right on top of the other so they can't jump. I've never had that problem with mine and they use the pads. We've been accident free for 2 months and they are 6 & 5 months old now. Just be sure that when she does go on the right place praise her and give her a treat. Also try spraying the areas with vinegar and water that helps take away the smell and stain. |

two gates, one on top of the other to keep him from leaving the kitchen and going into the rest of the house when I was not home. I wish I could post pictures of how this looked. You would think there was a pitbull behind the gates instead of a little yorkie. (at the time he was little). Hope that helps. Be good Pixie and stop peeing in the house. Hear me.:D |
mine too Quote:
good luck with this keep us posted.... |
I would recommend going back to basics. I know you have a lot of babies to care for in the house, but you will need to give her some extra attention. If she's jumping over gates, go back to crate training, or double up on her gates. Praise the heck out of her when she goes in the right places. If neither of those seem like options for you, buy her a diaper/skirt like the one I bought from Rena at www.barkindogclothes.com. I use mine for when I take Coco to other people's houses. But certainly you can use it on her. Though this won't help potty traiin her, this may retain your sanity and your white carpets. I personally would go back to confinement in a very small area, double up on the gates if you have to. It's hard but some tough love goes a long way sometimes. |
Can anyone post photos of their double gates just so I know what everyone is talkign about? I have a girl that jumps over the gates and climbs out of her ex-pen. We don't know how to keep her contained while we're away of the house short crating for 8 hours. |

Good luck. Wish I could post a picture because it is really funny. It becomes so high and the thought of a little Yorkie behind it to me is hysterical.:D |

ok, ok. We have a large room with a HUGE doorway, not a standard so that won't work. Darn. I need to find other solutions for mini-houdini |
I don't like crate training -- I hate the idea of leaving them in crates all day. :( I never used a crate and successfully trained 3 dogs (1 Maltese and 2 Yorkies). What worked for me was using an exercise pen. Put the pen in one room (preferably without carpet). Then put food, water, toys and a small bed on one side and on the other side put her wee wee pads. You can get x-pens for a great price on E-Bay! Just last week, I bought an exersice pen and had it mailed to my in-laws home so that when we leave Saturday for our visit, we will have something to put the dogs in while we're out (rather then give them free run of the house). I got it for a great price too -- $47.98. Here's the one I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1 |

I installed a new storm door and put a doggie door in it. My patio is fenced in. The guys love the freedom. They only use the pee pads when we are not home. They are only allowed in the living room for 2 hours in the evening, cause they seem to think peeing on carpet is allowed. I set the pee box right in the middle of the living room. hopefully they will learn to go outside from the livng room as well as the kitchen. |
they have doggie dorrs in the master bath, which is where they sleep at night.... they hardly ever have an accident in there..... and a doggie door in the living room slider.... which Pixie uses all day long to run in and out.... but she'll run inside to pee! lol Its really not funny! :( They are in the Kitchen/breakfast nook, which is a huge area of hardwood floors.... we go outside every hour to two hours to potty.... It works for everyone but pixie! |
I am sooooo right there with you!!!! I also have the white carpets and have had to clean them as well! Gilbert is 10 mos and I am so frustrated! I did find some stuff I liked at the Oreck store. It is their pet stain removal but it is 18.99 a bottle! It really worked but so darn expensive! I think I should start over with him, but I obviously did something wrong to begin with so where do I go from here. Just know you are not alone girlfriend! |
I would crate her and keep a close eye on her, when she wakes up from a nap, take her out side as fast as you can and tell her to "potty" when she goes praise her up and down like crazy and give her a yummy treat, I would let her play for 1/2 hour or so then back in the crate she would go and just keep doing this and it may take a good week or longer. Good luck!!!!!!!!!! lots of patients!!!!! |
Try Urine Gone. Having your carpet professionally cleaned doesn't mean that the pee smell is completely out - the yorkie's nose is powerful. I had to spray my carpet after I had it cleaned. I was able to see traces by using a black light. But after spraying the carpet with Urine Gone I have had no problem areas in my carpet. |
same problem here....... I am having the same problem with Hailey, she's driving me crazy !!!!!!She just doesn't get it either!!!!!I am also about to clean my carpets soon, they look and smell terrible and they're brand new!!!!!!! I's been 4 months since i got her and still pees and poops on my new carpets!!!!!!!! And i thought i had it bad!!!!!!!!:D I take her outside every 30-60 minutes but she still has accidents in the house even if i constantly watch her!!!!!! What can i do? Should i crate her when i am home or confine her to the kitchen?I am home with her all the time and i am starting to think i am not a good mom if she's not housebroken yet.:( Also, when she pees or poops in the house, what kind of punishment shoud i use?I usually tell her she's been bad and to "go laydown" away from me because she hates being alone but she does not seem to learn from it.Can someone please give me an advice?I don't know what else to do. |
Age? I USE to have a perfect yorkie (LOL) I use to read the board and everybody's problem's with their dear little pups while smugly thinking....I am so glad Mayzie is perfect! <SIGH> Well ever since Mayzie turned 9 months old she has been a terror! She is pee pad trained-rarely had accidents (an occasional miss), she sleeps all night, blah blah blah but lately she is just peeing and pooping in every room upstairs. She has a pad in the master bathroom (upstairs) that she has absolutely quit using! I am now feeling everybody's pain  I am just wondering if anybody noticed a change around 8/9 or 9/10 months. My husband is blaming the addition to Mo but it started before we got him--He just doesn't know that ;) . The funny part is he is housebroken and that is one thing my husband was "down" on because he just thinks it is so much better being pee pad trained because we can go away and not worry about letting the dogs out. I think he might be changing his thoughts on that but just to prideful to admit it  But I have to say my little Mo is precious and just about perfect ;) Any Opinions on the age theory? |
I agree! I bought a much cheaper version on HSN for a third of that price and it does the job well. My poodle is good about potty but when she is sick or has pain (arthritis pain) she is spoiled rotten and will pee on the carpet..... The shampooer has become my best resource! |
Glad to see someone post this Just when I thought I had it made------Last week was my birthday and I awoke to presents-someone had peed on the floor in our bedroom and someone else had peed in our bed. I have 2-a 1yr old and a 20mo old. Each will occassionly have an accident but this looked more like and "on purpose' During the day, if we are out both go into a large crate with beds and no problem. The x-pen didn't work for us because the 1yr old climbs the side and gets out. Our family room carpet has been replaced with wood flooring and every carpet has been shampooed frequently-nature's miracled and odobaned. What more can anyone do? During the day they have free run of the kitchen and family room with the rest of the house gated off unless I'm with them. They are like lightening-I can be right there in the same room and like majic pee appears on the floor |
what about a doggie diaper? |
No more puddles!! Thank goodness, i thought it was only my little izzie. Shes 7 months now and during the day she will go outside if the door is open. I have to watch her like a hawk if the door is shut because if she wants to go and she cant get out she will pee on anything soft!!!! i've even tried kneeling by the back door and barking so she will get the idea..... i think she just finds it amusing and licks me and walks off. AAAAHHHhhh Has anyone managed to get their babies to ask to go out for a wee? |
