Please i need help . Royce wont stop crying when I leave to work in the morning . i leave him with toys food water music on , i have a small studio so he has free run i don't gate him .
One neighbor complained and i got a warning if theres another complaint i will have either to get rid of him or move out .
please your advise is so much appreciated ,

I agree!!!!!!! That is what I did when Hobbs pitched a fit everytime I left the house and now he is too preoccupied to even notice when I leave! :p It doesn't even have to be a yorkie...get a small dog from the pound for him to play with.

That's not an option for me as i cant afford the costs that come with another dog .

That's the reason I suggested maybe a kitten. The cost for the shots and everything for a kitten are alot less expensive and you can get a kitten for free. Then you also don't have to go through the whole potty training thing. Most cats know to go straight to a litter box.

This is so true!!!!! My 2 yorkies are obsessed with this cat that lives outside our apartment that we feed. A kitten and your puppy would wear each other out chasing each other! That really might be a great option.

I have a studio apartment ( small ) and having 2 pets is inconvenient plus i travel a lot and always take royce with me ( plane ) thats quite expensive and i dont wanna end up having to pay for the cat when i travel as well

One thing you can do is start training him to be used to you not be home start by putting him in a separate room where he can't see once he starts pitching a fit start correcting him by making a noise he has to understand that you will leave but that you will always return for him. If you do this enough he will stop. If it doesn't work since some dogs have severe separation anxiety my friend has a maltese and they are notorious for their sep anx issues she uses rescue remedy on her dog. It's all natural and safe it can be used on pets and humans just two drops on his tongue or in his water and he will be calm. They sell it at drs foster and smith but I think you can order it directly from them.

I hope this helps it would be a shame if you had to give up your pup or move sep anx and can be controlled it just takes time

Great advice, though I would never give my dog medicine no matter how natural and safe, to calm them. That's like ridalin (sp?) for kids, I personally don't agree with it, because I think extensive training will do the job, but great advice otherwise :D

The thing is you have to make your leaving as uneventful as possible put him in another room with his favorite chew toy, one idea is to freeze a toy they will play with that for hours. While your dog is playing leave or if he is looking at you to play with him ignore him do your hair talk on the phone pay him no attention until you notice him not paying attention to you i.e he is playing with a toy. Then you leave the room as soon as he makes a whining noise distract him with the door close, shh him, make a hey sound, whatever works for you. Keep doing that as soon as he makes a noise and he will stop whining. Once he's quiet let him out and play with him, give him kisses, belly rubs etc, then repeat. The point of this is that your leaving is not important it is your return that he should be excited about.

Another thing is even if your dog uses wee wee pads you should walk him before you go to work. When he wakes up don't feed him let him drink water of course then take him for a 30 minute walk, he will be so happy and tired and hungry when he gets home.

Get a babtsitter, find some person that wants to sit with your puppy. you take your baby to them ,buy them everything they will need ,and they get to have all the love and joy without haveing the vet bills. Believe me a sitter is worth it. this is what i did. they charge me nothing. and sissy still goes over there and spend the nite with her second family. it was a blessing for my furbabies

i wont feel ok leaving Royce with someone else plus the problem is that when i shut the door of my apartment a 8 am that's when it starts so I dont think i will find someone that i can trust to come to my place at 8 am and watch my pup for an hour or so ....if the manager asks me to leave well i have one option left I will send Royce to live with my mom in tunisia but my heart will be broken and his heart as well ...I really need to come up with a solution that really works . Already took an appontment with the vet for next week

Do you have doggie daycare there? I send Loki once a week for a whole day and he practically kicks me out the door in the morning so he can take an 8 hour nap. If I don't send him, he gets whiny because he has a lot of energy and needs more attention. With daycare once a week, a short walk every day is all he needs.

contacted a dog behaviorist today and she will come to my place tomorrow .do you think it;s a good idea to solve his SA problem or i will be waisting money ?

I think it will help you out. Just make sure the person uses positive training techniques. You need to reassure the dog that it's OK! Most likely you will have an initial consult and a follow up, with lots of homework by you in between. You only pay for their time and advice, then you do the work, so it shouldn't cost you more than a few hundred dollars. Around here we pay about $100/hr and those types of things are 2-3 hours in total. That's about what I pay for an 8 week group training class, but since it's specifically targeted for just your dog, I think it's a pretty fair price. Good luck. And check references :)
