Is she mad at me? Hi there. Can anyone please help me? Mia was doing really good with not going potty in the house but for the past week when ever I go somewhere, even if its for a few miniutes she goes potty on the floor. Do you think shes mad because she was left behind? Thanks! |
welcome to yt!! as far as the peeing goes I dont know. sorry I cant be of more help, my rat terrier pees when she gets mad at me . |
thank you:animal36 |
Sounds like she could be mad, or having other high emotions when you leave. Maybe try leaving her w/ a toy or something to occupy her, then kinda sneak out. |
Do you leave something with your scent on it with her when you leave? |
She's probably not mad, but anxious. She is definately not doing it to get back at you or anything like that. Dogs don't think like that. She is probably just anxious to be alone. How old is she? Is the otherwise housetrained? Are you crate training? Have you tried kongs? Have you tried seeing a trainer? Sorry for all the questions, but it helps to have more info! :) |
No, she's not mad. It's possible that she's anxious like Erin suggested. It's also possible that pottying appropriately is only rewarding when you are home. When you are there, she's praised (& probably treated) for doing it right. She doesn't get that when you're not there. Keep up with the positive reinforcement for pottying appropriately. She'll eventually get so used to the feel of pottying where you want her to (on grass, if you're training her to go outside), that she will prefer to go there all of the time. It takes time and patience. Don't get frustrated yet, okay? |
:aimeeyork Thank you for your suggestions. I will try them. Mia is 1 1/2 years old. I use to take her everywhere with me before I had a baby 5 months ago. Thanks again. |
Is it possible that she needs to go out and no one is there to let her out? That's why we still leave Loki in his crate if we are gone for a while. He is used to someone letting him out as soon as he rings his bell since someone is almost always home with him. When we leave him alone, we crate him, eliminating any chance for accidents :-) Plus, he just sleeps in his crate and I think he feels safer in there. |
