Grrr will this dumb dog EVER be trained! OK so she is NOT dumb. She is smart. She learned her name in two days, learned how to sit in one but WHY does she think it's OK to cop a squat in the house. She does not go in her crate but obviously does not know it's NOT ok to go inside. If you put her in her crate during the day she barks and barks. She does NOT like it in there. So basically I have to keep an eye on her all the time she is out of her crate? My other dog knows to NOT go inside and goes to the door when she wants out. She is soooo much easier. She would not DREAM of copping a squat inside. Gracie is 7 months old. She can hold it all day in the crate but thinks she can just go on the carpet if she needs to!! |
She is still really young. You just need to watch her like a hawk and punish her (DO NOT hit her...simply tell her NO in a stern voice and take her outside immediately!) when you see her pottying in the house. It is really your responsibility to watch her. She is never going to learn if you let her run all over unsupervised. |
Well she used to be scared to chase the cats and now she is chasing them all over the house. I do tell her no in a stern voice when I see her do it and immediately take her outside. I have told the kids new rule. When she is not in the kennel she is on the couch with us or being played with on her rug. If she's not then she goes in her kennel and let her bark. |
A majority of yorkies are extremely hard to potty train. She'll get it in time. |

I forgot to add....the most important thing is CONSISTENCY! If you give up, then she will NEVER be potty trained! If you are consistent, then with time she will definately be potty trained. Just hang in there and don't give up on her! There is light at the end of the tunnel if you are consistent. |
Oh I won't give up. I am glad I have hardwood floors in alot of my rooms. If only I could make her quit barking in her kennel! Any suggestions for that? |
Mine have good days and bad days. You just have to be very diligent about wathcing her. |
