Harley is pretty much the same way. No matter what we do we just can't get him to 'enjoy' the water. The upside is when we go kayaking and he's wearing his little life jacket just in case, he NEVER hops out into the water! lol Some dogs just plain ole' don't like it! My boyfriends sister bought a german wired haired pointer (which is a breed used for water fowel retrieval) for her husband to take on hunting trips and guess what? She's afraid of water! haha Thank goodness she's makes a great family pet! If you really wanted to try and get her to begin liking the water though you could start by placing her in shallow water, about half way up her legs so she feels safe, and get in the water if possible and while she's in there keep her calm and praise her for calm behavior and give her treats too to keep her happy. :) Maybe some positive reinforcement will help to get her to like the H20 more. :) |
