Have you tried Kongs? There is even a Kong dispenser that pops out 1 kong every hour or whatever. Try a single kong first - sometimes I give Loki a kong in his crate but he usually saves it until we get home. But he also won't eat if I'm not in the room either. If you try them, stuff with plain yogurt, PB, low fat cream cheese or even mashed banana and you can freeze them. Also, does he have a crate? Loki feels safe in his crate. He goes there (or the closet) during storms and will take his bully stick in there to chew. He'd totally have SA if we left him in a bigger space, but when he's in his crate he knows it's nap time and that we'll be home soon. It's all comfy with a cover and a bumper and mattress. Maybe try that instead of a gate?? I suppose you can't do it if you are pee-pad training. Loki's outside trained so it keeps him from the possibility of having an accident when no one is home to let him out. |
