Aggressive Eater- Fights Okay...I usually feed Remmy and Chance seperately and in thier kennel because Remmy has to be on a special diet and cannot eat any other food. Today Chance had some food left in his kennel. His kennel door was shut so Remmy could not get in there and eat it. However he was near it and Chance came around and Remmy jumped all over him. Growling and Snarling. He did not hurt chance but he ment business. How do I get him not to be so aggressive about food? |
The only thing I can think of to do to make it easier on you is to take up the remaining food when they are done eating and not leave it laying around so there is no temptation. I read not to leave food down after the dog has eaten. If it is removed, after say 15mins after eating, they will learn to eat it all at once. I have done that with Buddy and have had no problem. If he dosen't finish it after 15min up it goes. He eats it all unless he actually does not want it. Hope this helps you. |
My little Pilla gets aggressive like that with our cats. We're "training together" with a trainer who comes to the house, and I asked her about that. She says that's absolutely natural when there's food around. You can't stop that instinct. The only thing to do is remove the food. |
I agree, as long as they get along otherwise, I'd say it is just instinct. Make it easy on yourself and remove the source of the argument. |
