Just wondering...Who has the youngest pup that's house broken?
 

My first yorkie, Hobbs, was 100% potty trained by the time he was 16 weeks old. We did get him when he was 8 weeks old, so it took us about 2 months to fully potty train him. We trained him to go outside. Our situation was ideal for him to be trained early. We lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment (so there was no where he could go where we couldn't see him...no sneaking off to potty somewhere) and my hubby was at home 24/7 to watch him and work on his potty training. We took him out every 2 hours, everytime he woke up from a nap, everytime after a playing session, and about 45 minutes after he ate or drank (if he was awake). There was only one door that we used to take him out and it was right in the living room. He eventually just started running to the door and just sitting there whenever he needed to go outside to potty. Whenever we would catch him in the act of going potty inside, we would pop him on the butt with an empty paper towel roll (I know I will get crap for this, but HEY it worked for me :rolleyes: ) and tell him NO and take him right outside. He never has liked treats, so when he went potty outside we would praise praise praise him and take him right back inside! We never allowed outside time to be play time. The only time he could go outside to play was when he went on walks on a leash. We eventually learned what times during the day he would go poop and during those times we would stay outside longer with him to make sure he pooped before we brought him back inside. When we did have to leave him at home alone, we put him in a crate...a VERY VERY small crate (created by putting a box in the back of his crate to make it half the size...about 6"x6") where he only had room to stand up, turn around, and lay down.

Now we are working on our new puppy who is 13 weeks old. She hasn't had an accident in the house all week! Whoopi!

He is 8 months old and I cannot remember the last time he had a potty accident.

He is ringing his bell consistanly and I am very happy with how his potty training went. He has not gone poppy in the house since he was about 18 weeks old.:bravo:

I can leave him with free roam of the house for short periods of time with no wee wee or poo anywhere. Of course I might find some shredded paper by the time I get out of the shower! :rollingey

Cali was almost 100% pee pad trained by 13 weeks. I honestly didn't have to do much she had a pee pad in her playpen and I was home all day with her and after a few accidents she just always used her pads. I have never pad or crate trained my puppies in the past and I worked and it took me until they were 8 months to have then 100% potty trained. I used the Jump Start pads from Petsmart and I really believe that's what got her trained so quickly. She is so trained on them that she will not go outside even though my Pom only goes outside.

Morgan was pee pad trained at 13 weeks. From the moment i brought her home, she always went on the pad. I think its easier for them to understand going potty on a pee pad and i don't consider her potty trained if she does this. potty trained to me, means going to the bathroom outside. Since i've been taking her outside on a regular basis, she hasn't had an accident in the house since the fourth day i took her home.

Peeka and Boo have been almost fully outside trained for 2 weeks now. They are 12 weeks old occasionally they will have an accident but it's only if i don't notice that they are at the door. Boo will whine at the door to go potty and Peeka just waits for me to take them out. it has been really easy for us.

By the time that Rebel was 4 1/2 - 5 months old, he was completely potty trained...but we used a doggie door.

We got our yorkie at 6 weeks. He is now 10 weeks old and has not had an accident since he was 8 weeks old. We use a pee pee pad and he always goes on there whether he's in his playpen or running around the house.

Since I kept Izzie out of our litter, she's been trained pretty much from the time she could get out of the crate to go on the pee pad. I would have to say 100% trained since she was 10 - 12 weeks old.

Doggie Door is what we used too! I used to come home for lunch to let her out. Whata difference it made. She can go out when she wants to play or potty. (our yard is completely fenced and I have chicken fence stapled to the wood and buried about 3" under ground.)

(sigh) seems so easy when I read about it...
 

Codie was fully potty trained by 12 weeks ... he was a miracle dog LOL :D

If your little one isn't getting the pee pad thing, I would just stick it out 2 more weeks until he is 12 weeks old then start teaching him to go potty outside. I don't want to tell you to go against what your vet has told you, but I've been taking mine outside to potty since they were 7 weeks old with no problems.

Funny you should ask this question. We really don't know what age they fully trained. The reason being that we moved from one state to another during their house breaking. Once in our new home, we just put down potty pads in one bathroom of our house and walked them routinely while we human family members unpacked. Well, it's been a few months since our move and the black light test tells no lie!!! We thought for sure our carpeted areas would light up like a christmas tree with accidents. Early housebroken
 

Cozy is roughly 18 weeks old and has yet to have an accident. I do not use wee-wee pads. She has only ever gone outside in the grass with me. When she has to go outside she runs to the backdoor and cries. Her original owner got her at 12 weeks but gave her up at 16 weeks. Cozy's first mommy used outside and newspaper as did the breeder. Cozy has no interest in soiling her bed or home. She also follows the golden retriever every where he goes and copies him. The only problem with this is that I now have a female dog who lifts her leg, a task the golden couldn't figure out until he was over a year old. She is one smart puppy.
