Clicker Training? Has anyone clicker trained their yorkie? Is it worth it? Is it successful? |
Clicker Training  I don't know what clicker training is? |
We used a clicker in agility class and it seemed to work well. I just had a hard time juggling the leash, clicker AND treat. I haven't used it for any other type of training though. |
Joey is clicker-trained. We absolutely love it! Here are some websites on the subject: http://dogdigs.kaylar.com/clickertrain.htm http://www.clickersolutions.com/arti....htm#behaviors http://www.clickerlessons.com/lessons.html http://www.dragonflyllama.com/%20DOG...evelsBook.html Good luck! |

Thanks for those links! I'll have to start working on that! |
We did the clicker training. We used it in the begining so that you would understand what was going on. As the classes went on, I stoped using it. |
Clicker training rocks. Oh yeah, we love it! It's so good. Dixie goes through her whole repertoire of tricks whenever the clicker comes out, Bless her! |
what exactly is clicker training? |
Annika and Tiger's new trainer does not highly recommend clicker training only because she says it is better to train with your voice and sign language as you will always have that ready anytime, as supposed to being so dependent on a clicker. I personally don't like it either even when Tiger had his very first introduction to clicker training only because I always don't have it with me, and dealing with the clicker on one hand and giving him the treat on the other is just way too much  |

A clicker is used only when introducing a new behavior. You use it to mark the exact second that they get the behavior right. Once the behavior is learned, you no longer need to mark it with a clicker. Praise (with or without a treat) is sufficient. |
