Still not getting it So we just moved to a new apartment, and Copper still doenst understand where he is supposed to go. We tried to keep him in the kitchen but he hates it! I dont know what it is he whines alot, and being in an apartment i dont want to upset my neighbors. So i moved him into the Den, carpeted. He likes it better in there but if hes not going in his box I wouldnt really know. I dont know if it is a comfort thing or what? We also tried to let him roam around and put pee pads all over the apt where he was having accidents, but he would sometimes go there or just go close to it, and it was new not like it was a dirty pad. I just really think he doenst undrestand what we want because he will squat right in front of us and we pick him up and say NO, NO, then put him in his potty box. So i guess my questions are; are we doing something wrong? Should I just keep him in the den? Should i leave him in there at all times unless hes just going to sit on our laps? I just feel bad leaving him in the den alone. Any tips would be great! Thanks! |
theres more.. After writting that i found that he had been peeing on the bean bag in the den, the one he used to like to sleep on, so i moved him into the 1/2 bathroom. I just feel bad its a small space, and thats not where i wanted him to learn to go potty.Should we just keep him in there all day unless we can keep a really really close watch on him? I have a gate there though so he can see us and what not. I just really dont think I know what i am doing.. I just need some help haha. |
My pup stays in the kitchen when I work - (happily)... But when I'm home in the evening - I just slap a belly band on him and let him have run of the house. Even so, I still take it off and take him outside every couple hours - and he does go to the bathroom every time. Most of the time (because we go outside often), his belly band is dry --- but not always. So, I am at least stopping most of the damage he might do. Personally - I like my pup (10 months) - being able to run around the house. He has never been confined in any way (other than when I work - which he is used to), and I'm sure he'd cry and whine if I confined him somewhere when I am home. He just wouldn't like that at all. Good luck - Carol Jean |
