Pee Pad- substitue with baby diapers? Hi all. I was meeting with a client today and the topic of conversation shifted to the silky terrier that he just adopted. The little silky is one year old, had been abandoned and has not been trained much. Anyway, we got on the subject of WizDog, Pipi Dolly and pee pads. His Silky is trained to use pee pads. That of course led to the discussion about the cost of the things. He said that once a dog is trained to use a pee pad, you can substitute baby diapers (not put on the dog, of course). They are much cheaper. Is this true? Has anyone had any luck with this? Needless to say, we were both beyond belief at where the topic of conversation had gone and we had a good laugh. I actually had him blushing a bit when I mentioned WizDog and Pipi Dolly! :D |
I cannot believe that baby diapers are cheaper, unless of course he meant the cloth washable ones. I think my daughter pays as much for a box of 40 or 50diapers as I did for a whole case of 120 of the hospital pads. And they wouldn't be anywhere near big enough. :confused: and they're all curved and such. |
What are the hospital pads you are talking about, those blue incontinence pads? Yes, those are indeed much cheaper. |

The pee pads do have something sprayed on them that attracts the dogs to use them. I suppose you could use a paper towel to collect a bit of urine and spread it on a spot on the pee pad until the dog figures it out. My thought was to use pee pads first then substitute adult diapers or incontence pads once my pup knows that she is to go on the pad. Those incontinence pads can be purchased in the U.S. at many discount stores like Fred Meyer. I used them when my old cat was dying and lost control of his bladder. They worked wonderfully. |
