Biting Okay, bella is now 6 mo's and she has most of her adult teeth, but she is STILL biting???? I tought that once her puppy teeth were gone that she would stop biting so much. I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun to get her to stop, but she just keeps going. Any suggestions or thoughts???? Thanks!:) |
I would try keeping her busy with other things. Chew sticks or bully sticks are fantastic and will keep her occupied for hours. With Jaxon we always said 'no bite' and would put our hand into a fist. He still nips at ankles or pant legs occassionally, but if I ignore him, he gives up quick. Seems like making a fuss about it only gets him going even more. |

Jaxon's mom you are so right about the ignoring, b/c if I make a fuss she will go nuts and start to attack my ankels and toes!!! so I do try and ignore it. I will definitely have to get some chew or bully sticks! THanks |
What I have noticed with Sissy recently, is that when she starts biting my fingers, that is how she tells me she needs to go outside. She will all of a sudden jump up and start biting! She still likes to bite when she plays, so I am always saying "no biting" and putting my hands into fists. |
I don't believe biting should ever be allowed or ignored. Use a little dog whisperer on her. When she bites at you make your hand like a mouth and bite her shoulder with it, and push her away. You could also try yelping like she is hurting you. Basically you need to behave as another dog would if she were biting on them and they did not like it. they would snap at her. |
Ok - I'm a newbie at this whole thing. I'm a new "Mom" with my first-ever pet. I absolutely adore my baby but this biting is making me crazy!! I have done everything that has been suggested, i.e., yelping, biting back (gently of course), having a toy handy, spraying with water, everything. Nothing works! If I act like I'm wounded it just excites him. I welcome any advice you can provide Riley's mom |

With my boy ... he thinks I'm barking at him when I yelp ... and now he will bark when we are playing. Its the only time he barks so its not a big deal ... he still bites. (I use a firm NO, that seems to help a little) |
