Potting inside or outside?? Hello, I have a 3 months old boy and I can't decide what to do. Our weather here is so changing. I would like him to go also outside to do his things but as for now he goes out and as he comes back in he goes on a newspaper. I also use pee pee pads. For our winters sometimes it can go down to minus 30C (-22F) and summers are around 20 to 30C (68-86F). Yesterday was 27C (80,5F) and today is cloudy and 18 C (64,4F). How can I convince him to do his things outside? and at the same time use indoor things because at the wintertime he has to stay in. I'm lucky coz he's not using carpet for toilet :) And also how can I tell him to use pee pee pads and only these. Soon we are moving and his toilet place is changing and when we are visiting someone and staying overnight I need him to use these pads at the place where I put it not the place where he wants to go. Thanks! |
I'm trying the same thing I have the same problem...BAD winters and I don't like him out at night. I am trying to teach him to go outside when I am home unless I put something down. Still working on that. I've trained him on command to pee and poo so if I have a pee pad in the bathroom and say "pee" or whatever...he goes. I am planning on switching to the pup head dog toilet because the pee pads are just way too expensive with how many I go through and I dont' see how they separate what a pee pad is from what towel or bathmat is. suz |
Thanks, it's a good idea, I'm gonna try this toilet thing |
what is a pup head dog toilet? |
If you do a search, you can find it. Just type in the words. suz |
Wow, there is certainly money to be made on indoor dog peeing items isn't there!! |
I have managed to successfully train mine to use the pee pad in a box, and also to go outside. They go outside most of the time. At three months he is still pretty young, just keep taking him out, and when you see him using the pad, say the words , potty, or pee or whatever, then he will begin to associate the word with what he is doing. Then when you take him out use the same words. He will catch on eventually. It is usually just a matter of time. |
