Help! won't go in designated pee area! Georgia is 20 weeks and so far her potty training outside is going well except for one thing. She runs to the door most times and rings her little bell and I take her out to an area we have set up right near the steps..it's a 2' by 4' area on the bark mulch where she's supposed to do her business. Half the time she jumps down the step into her area and goes ...the other half she jumps down the steps into the yard and runs like crazy away from me to find a spot to relieve herself. I don't want her doing this because I don't want her ruining the lawn or running into the street etc....when she does run away I always catch up to her and put her BACK into her pee area to go...reguardless if she's gone or not on the grass. Sometimes I catch her before she's gone on the grass other times NOT. As I type this I've gone through this with her twice this morning and she's now in her crate for a little time out for doing it. Any suggestions as to why sometimes she'll pee in her area and other times run to the yard to do it?? Thanks for any help :) |
I am not sure why she goes outside of her "marked" area but I guess you can put her on a leash so she is under "contro" and cannot wander too far from her designated area. |
Maybe she didn't get the memo that said that she had to go there!! :eyeballpc 2' x 4' seems kinda small to me, but, I've been wrong before! :idontknow My guess is that you don't have a fenced yard, right? How about buying an x-pen and setting it up in her designated area? As far as "ruining the lawn", just hose it off after she goes on it. Yorkies don't pee THAT much!! When Ginger was young, I had to take her out on a leash. She woldn't go unless I had my back turned to her.:scratchhe Everybody wants a little privacy sometimes!! Suz |
I'll try enlarging her designated area...she's only a 3 lb. shih tzu so i thought that was big enough but it's worth a try. My husband doesn't want her to get into the habit of doing her business on the lawn and agree with it or not I have to respect it. Thanks for the replies so far it's appreciated! Keep them coming! |
