Thank you soooo much!!!! my question is how should i potty train bella....she goes outside when i take her. but she also goes inside...and refuses to go on the pads...instead she lays on them. hehe.....i feel bad leaving her in her crate all day so i bring her with me... i dont know if i am not supposed to do that? should i try the play pen thing? and if i do ...how long can i leave her in there? any help would be very much appreciated!!!!! |
I'm sure you've been reading--there are a lot of good threads on potty training. I think we have pretty much all been through this and some of us are still going through it! I have found that my dogs prefer to go outside. Consistency, watching them like a hawk and time will make things better. I think the big thing is age--they simply can't hold it very long at a young age. The crate is great because it helps to teach them to hold it. Get a good enzyme type cleaner to clean up all accidents including in the crate. I don't know how long you are gone but the exercise pen is a great idea if there are long periods that you are away. That way you can have a pee pad in one end with water and bedding in the other. Good luck to you--We will prevail--with time and patience!! |
You have to decide if you want to outside train her or train her to go on potty pads. Loki is totally outside trained, we never used pads, so I can help you on that one if you are interested. Do you mean you take her with you to work and you are not supposed to? Loki goes everywhere with us, except my work and the grocery store. We run errands together on the weekends and he comes with, or my husband stays home with him. He is totally crate and housetrained, but I'd rather be with him and it's easy enough to stop every hour to let him out of the car. He loves his car seat and to him it's about the same as being in his crate - he sleeps - but at least this way we can give him water and let him out and spend time with him. |
