Until your puppy outgrows this wonderful teething/chewing stage - he needs to be confined to an area where he can't cause this damage. He only needs to be confined when you can't keep an eye on him every minute.

He will outgrow this. My pup chewed one of the corners in my house also.

He rarely chews things like that anymore.

buttercup is a little over 3 months and is teething as well but he doesn't bite on anything. when i see him looking for something to nibble on, i just give him a little piece of rawhide and now he knows that biting on anything besides the rawhide puts him in timeout

My suggestion, when they chew on the walls, clap really loud once and say NO!!!! No Wall Chew!!! and give them something that they CAN chew on like a Bully stick. JMO but it seems to work for me. Good luck[/QUOTE]

I have done this when my pup tried to chew the bookshelves. We also have a big range of pork chews--trotter,ears,snout, twists-that she likes to chew. I try to distract to something I want her to do.When she isn't being supervised,she is in her puppy pen,safe from walls. She does chew her basket-I don't mind-it's hers! she also likes the cardboard rolls that used to have tinfoil around to chew up. Plenty of play and walks mean she isn't up to too much mischief otherwise,although she has learned to escape from the garden and cost me $285 to futher puppy proof what I thought was a safe garden! So she has her own faults!

I understand! My presley is 9 months old and he ate my corner molding off!
i bought this spray called" Bitter Apple" BUY IT! it does no damage and it works they hate it and will not nibble on anything if it is sprayed on it, i bought mine at petsmart.. hope this note helps:):animal-pa :aimeeyork

Thanks for all the great replies guys!...

I wish Bitter Apple Spray worked on my pup but it doesn't. I actually think he likes it! And I am NOT surprised! He likes everything and anything he can lick, chew, or bite. He is a little monster =). I have found a new name for him. Napoleon, the Toilet Paper King. (self-explanatory)

I'm so glad to see this posting! From the time we got Tootsie at the age of 3 months she would chew on the corners of the wood work....lick walls...chew the corners of carpeting...pull toilet paper all the way from the bathroom out to the living room....oh my the list goes on and on! Oh...she will pull the trash out of the cans in my office and just shred everything in there..so now I have the small trash cans that have swing lids. I have to say she did all that for about the first 3 years...and now she doesn't chew on all that stuff anymore...but I still have the swinging trash can lids and a shredder. Tootsie as a puppy once when we were playing did nip at me...my first reaction was to hit her softly...and that was the last time she did that! She is sooo smart...as are all Yorkies. I think what took the longest is potty training and I have to say today she is about 99% potty trained. But she is just so darn cute...how can you get mad at her? LOL!

I have two Yorkies, Jacques and Andres. Jacques is the one that licks holes in the wall down through the sheetrock. He did that in my apartment (two holes) but hasn't done it since we moved to a house. He also ate a hole in my bedroom carpet down to the backing while I slept and left no carpet fibers lying around. I was hoping that there would be something you can put on their food like you do when they eat poop. Luckily poop isn't one of our fetishs. Jacques also loves bitter apple, orange anything I spray.

LOL! YES! and the stairs, corners of the moldings, anything that sticks out! Sadie never did this...Lillie on the other hand bites on EVERYTHING! I buy nylabones for her (and Sadie) but, Sadie takes them all and hides them! She is such a little devil!

I found this website when I got Venus. She's now 13 weeks old.

For chewing, somene her told me to get "Clear deoderant" I tried it in one spot, and she didn't like it.

So for now, clear deoderant, is on most of the furniture in the kitchen, till she gets through this chewing stage. And its cheap too! I got a stick of Suave, glides on clear, for right under 2 bucks at Walmart. I've found it goes further, if I put in on my hand, then rub furniture, baseboards, or whatever she likes to chew on.

So far, thats worked for me a whole week!

My girl got into the crown moulding in my room. In several place to by the way. I think it was part of her teething phase though. Thank god she has desisted now.:confused:

Little Bit seems to have quite the taste for oak mouldings as well.
