Neutered Yorkie humping like crazy I recently got a two year old male Yorkshire Terrier. He has been neutered, but he still humps this pink beanie baby like crazy. Why does he still do that? It's gross when he does it, especially with company around. And he remains "excited" for quite some time after he's done humping, and he is mean and won't let you near him during this time. Is it okay for me to say "no" and try to make him stop this behaviour? Will it even stop him? Thanks for any help you can give! |
What your dog is doing isn't that unusual at all. Male dogs hump - female dogs hump - and spayed females and neutered dogs hump. And - you're right... it isn't exactly what we want going on in the middle of our front room ---especially with company. So - just treat it like any other dog behavior that you don't like. Stop your dog everytime he does it. Be firm - distract him - and get him occupied with something else. Truthfully - in time, your dog should realized that his humping is something that you don't approve of and that he will be in trouble or disciplined for doing. Good luck --- hundreds of us have been there. Unfortunately, many people think this is cute - but, I'm like you........ it is not cute!!!! And, for sure, remove any toys or objects that he behaves this way with. Carol Jean |
My male dog humps his toy dog also he is neutered also, my female humps my husband leg all the time so we just stop them when they do this. and take the toy away for good. but he does find another one to hump. my husband yells at him and say stop working out in front of me lol lol.... |
Even though the toy isn't alive humping is a way of dogs to show dominance over something. He is actually being bossy to the toy, it's not actually a sex thing. How I would personally stop this behaviour would be to put the toy on the floor and not allow him near it. I would block him with my body and a snap of the finger to get away from it. You may not believe this but this is an easy two day fix at most. |
I have gotten rid of two stuffed toys - one that each of my dogs liked to hump. And -- this alone has practically stopped their humping 100%. Carol Jean |
