She is PEEING IN MY CLOSET !!! My boyfriend and I brought a three year old purbred yorkshire terrier back with us to New York from Southern California. Daisy has already been trained by my boyfriends father with whom she grew up with in Southern California. My boyfriend also lived with Daisy for a year when she was young. She is very comfortable with us and doesnt seem to miss her old family as she is familiar with my boyfriend. I have taken most of the responsibilty in walking her and being assertive when she isnt behaving since Matt is at work a lot. Last week I went on a trip to Atlanta over the weekend and left her with Matt. When I walked in the door there was puke on our duvet cover, in front of the door, a puddle of pee next to the bathroom and I soon discovered that there was dried pee all over my walk in closet!! I know he had been walking her so I dont see this as a full-bladder problem but rather a rebellion against me for leaving. Please help!!! I cant live like this. As of yesterday we bought her a crate and decided to retrain her. We have let her run loose from the minute we brought her back. Is this neccesary??? Why was she peeing while I was gone??? Thank you! Was there a lot of dry pee in the closet? Could she have been peeing in the closet since you got her and not just over the weekend? |
I would crate train her...it is an adjustment issue, hopefully |
The pee in my closet was dry, but I DEFINETLEY would have smelled it prior to leaving. I spend a good amount of time in there in the morning ;) but when I came back I went in there to unpack and smelled it and felt it on the ground IMMEDIATLEY! WHats is with the puke before I come home?? Could she have smelled me and got excited?? |
Hi! I am new to the forum and wonder how to insert pictures! I would love to show my pup! |
Okay, if she did this only while you are gone then my guess is either Matt didn't do a good job at taking her out to potty or she was extremely stress when you left. Of course it can be something else. She can be sick or just not feeling very well that weekend. It's hard to say. However, if she is back to her normal self and is behaving then chuck it up to a bad weekend. It happened, it is over, end of story. Nothing else you can do. |
Mine used to pee in my closet, too. I was redoing my doors so I didn't have any and I just made sure he couldn't get in there. I would confine her to a small area with tile/wood like the kitchen in case she has an accident. I don't know if a crate is necessary since you said she WAS trained before |
