Please someone tell me it gets better! Our fergie is 5 months old she is healthy and happy and we love her. Our problem is she is super hyper we have a 14 year old cocker that is deaf and blind our fergie won't leave her alone fergie dos'nt mean any harm she is only playing but she makes our old cockers life unbarable. We stop her she waits untill we are not looking and starts again. she is allways into something from hanging on our pant legs to chewing the carpet and everything in between she just has to be doing something bad ( SUPER HYPER) she is 85% pottie traind and can use a dog door. Our question is will it ever get better? Thank you in advance for any help Fergies Dad |
Of course it'll get better! Oreo is 4 months old and was 100% potty trained until we Got Ginger, he went back to being 85% potty trained! but I've trained the both of them now.. so now they are 95% potty trained.. Oreo is way too hyper as well! When I had my old Pomeranian, He would pounce on her, attack her ears etc, and she would just lay there like a rag doll.. pooor girl! but you know i think thats one of the characteristics of yorkies, they are hyper, he only gets hyper when he sees people who want to pet him and play.. if you train him i guess it'll get better.. i've trained him to not bite/nip at my hands, not chew anything at all (thank the lord!) .. but Ginger is a different story.. i'm still in the process of training her. So of course it'll get better, i guess just keep at it, working with your baby and soon (it takes time of course).. things will be fine! |
All hyper dogs calm down with age. She sounds a few good training sessions and maybe some running or chasing a ball would tucker her out. I didn't realize how "hyper" Hefner was until I took him to a yorkie meet up and he was so much more acive than the other dogs. He was also one od the youngest and I am sure they all calm down somewhat with age. Hang in there and she'll come around. Your cocker probably needs a place only he can get to to get away every once in a while. I think distraction is what works best for puppies and their behavior problems. |
We finally gave in and gave our 8 year old Schnauzer a safe haven on our couch. He has to lay on a rug but Bo was also driving him insane! Amazingly though, little by little Bo has won him over so that they do play now. But when Woody is tired he lets Bo know in no uncertain terms. Some other things that have worked for us: I took some time with Bo and taught him to "sit" and "wait". That way his attention is on me and not on Woody all the time. I plan to teach him as much as I can. Yorkies are very bright. Also, I make a point of feeding Woody first, giving him treats first, etc, so Bo knows that Woody is the Alpha dog, not him. Woody is a really good dog and not agressive so this has worked. Might not work if your older one is the agressive one. Good luck! I know it's frustrating. |
