How do you play with your yorkie?
 

i would like to know how do you play with your yorkie ?
Me, I would throw his toys and ask him to bring the back, or he comes to me and start chewing on my hands or feet ?
any suggestions on other ways to play ? :confused:

i just kind of rough house with my boys, sometimes they aren't that amused with fetch, they just want to be rolled around and played with. lol mine are pretty easy to entertain (sometimes) so i dont know what else to tell you. good luck though

I carefully run around the house and she chases me. You have to be real careful that they don't get underfoot. I sort of do a shuffling run.

My girls love for me to throw their toys and then they run after them! They are very easy to entertain!

I play chase with Chachi. I chase him then he turns around and chases me.

we play fetch alot at my house. Get the ball...hide the ball and find it. tug o war sometimes.

Fetch and tug of war are Tucker's favorites. He also loves a good back scratch. He loves to play a game where I hide his toy under a blanket or behind me and he crawls all over me looking for it. Walks are a great way to entertain him. He likes when we try to teach him tricks, like sit, stay, come, turn around. He doesn't realize he's working....thinks it's all play!

bunjee likes fetch and tug of war. we play chase too but i only let him chase me, i don't chase him. i don't want him to think running away from me is a game. i have a cat toy at the end of a stick that he loves to play with as well. we also do a little bit of light wrestling where he would get up, run in a circle around me for a bit, then we'll wrestle again. and sometimes he'll just run in a circle or a figure 8 in the condo all on his own.

Tiki is the worst fetch player ever. He's great at going to get the toy, ball or whatever I threw, but good luck trying to get it back from him! Alls he wants is for me to chase him! And he also does the same thing when I finally get the ball from him or am in the process of trying to take it out of his mouth, he just thinks my fingers and hands are the new toy and starts chewing them! It's so funny, it's like ok, who's playing fetch with who? I think He's got me fetching more than I've got him fetching! He almost seems to be taunting me in some ways. He'll run, get the toy and then lay down half way back to me and start staring at me, like "ok mom, come and get it, I dare ya!" :p You gotta love it!

We play fetch mostly with Aggie. Every now and then we'd have a major race in the house.

Oh and one more thing, are your Yorkies like this...no matter how many toys I buy my little guy, he wants nothing more to play with that whatever I have in my hands. I mean anything from a pen, to a piece of paper (or better yet toilet paper which has been one of his most recent favorites), to the telephone. I tell ya, why do I spend money on new toys when alls he wants is toilet paper? ;)

Ok Tigger loves to play "Chase me and then I'll chase you." It starts out with myself or my boyfriend chasing Tigger and then we turn around quickly and run away from him and let him chase us and then we go back and forth doing that.

John(my BF) Loves to hide from Tigger and call his name. Once Tigger realizes he can't find him, he'll run around the house looking for daddy. then he'll begin to whine. John will let that go on for a couple minutes and then he jumps out and Tigger's surprised to see him.

Tigger will,also,bring his toys and set them on our laps and will look at us as to say "you know you want to throw it come on now!" Or he'll throw it for himself if we don't do it for him.

I tend to rough house with Tiggster(my new nickname for him). I'll push him around and I'll make him dizzy and he'll bark at me or mumble. It's hilarious.

John and I will say get him/her(whoever we want him to get) and he'll bark at that person and then play bite them and kind of do this front leg jump thing (where only his front legs come off the ground).

But whatever you do DO NOT play like the other person is hurting you. John and I will kiddingly play rough with eachother (no hitting or stuff of that nature, just tickling or even just saying "Ow Tigger help!!!") and he'll bark ferociously and bite the person doing the damage(most of the time he'll bite the right person) it's so much fun.

Ha ha ha!! That's just like my Badger. I've spent a small fortune on toys and puppy accessories for him. I got him the most clever-brain-enhancing-mood-boosting-all singing-all dancing toys but his favourite toys are: two empty toilet roll dispensers (hahaaa!!), a curler wrapped up in an old sneaker lace and some old mouse with a bell in it that the cat discarded about five years ago... go figure!

Dolce loves to play fetch and has gotten rather good at it. She almost always drops the toy back at my feet if I wait a couple of seconds. If not, then it just turns into a game of tug 'o war.

She also has a REALLY funny obsession...my underwear. LOL! When I get in the shower in the morning and put my pajamas/underwear on the ground, she goes MAD trying to find my underwear in the heap. It is SOOOOO funny! I've made it kind of like a game by wrapping them up right in the middle of everything, so she spends forever trying to get to them, but usually can't in the end....I don't really want her to get to them, so it works for both of us.

Oh! And I'll also put a towel or blanket over her and let her wrestle around until she gets out. It's SOOO funny when she finally pops her head out and has CRAZY hair! I love it!

We rough it up! Either one on one or we'll play tug!! Also, he likes to fetch. LOTS OF PLAY!

Ginger’s favorites are tug-of-war and fetch. She likes to chase and be chased but I’m too afraid I’ll step on her. We play “hide the hedgehog” too. The hedgehog is her FAVORITE toy and while playing fetch sometimes, I’ll hide it from her behind a cushion or something, and let her find it. It’s so funny to see her little nose twitching trying to smell him out.

Fetch is out #1 game. At first he didn't get it.. he would have the toy in his mouth just barking and wouldnt let go... Now he brings me the toy and teases me.. I keep my hand out saying "gimme the toy" and he lunges and does a low growl.. sometimes he taps my hand with 1 paw like "hahaha" until I grab it and throw...that is when I think I get more into this game...

Another one is catch me if you can.. If I am not paying attention to him he will run up and jump at my leg and run away from me as I chase him... LOL Good for me too he is keeping me in shape :thumbup:

How to Play
 

Sissy has a fetish also - socks. She loves to run off with socks whenever possible. She loves to chase us as well. She has her favorite toys that she will just sit and gnaw on when in the mood. She does like to chew fingers, but I try to discourage that by giving her a chew toy. I wear a rolled up bandana in my hair occasionally and she also loves to climb onto the back of the couch and take it off my head and chew on that!
