Belly Bands Would someone tell me where I can get a belly band for my little male? He's started lifting his leg in the house and I can't get him to stop. I've tried Petsmart but they only had the full diapers and for those of you with boys, I'm sure you've found that they don't work. Thanks. |
Here's what I found from a quick Google search... First site has a good background on belly bands (I'd never heard of such a thing). Hope it works out for ya! :) http://decotogs.com/CCquestions.htm http://shop.unitedyorkierescue.org/listings.cfm?cat=15 http://www.dog-bows.com/cgi-bin/TheF...B-P&category=1 |
Thanks so much for doing that for me. I'll let you know how it goes. |
belly bands While you are waiting for them to arrive, you can use boys crew socks. Put a mini pad in the middle and secure with a diaper pin. Many, many years back before we could find actually belly bands, this is what many people used. |
Thanks Pat. You know, I took a look at the links noted above and they look like something that I could make myself. I'm going to give it a try and see what I end up with. |
belly bands and matted hair Can anyone tell me, does using the belly bands really mat the hair in that area. My little guy is so small that the band covers almost all of his back and I'm afraid he will be all mats. Any ideas? Thanks! |
Go to www.yorkiefantasy.com. Diane makes yorkie clothes and I believe she also makes custom sized belly bands. She's a member of my group, littleyorkielove, and I just bought the cutest little outfits for my two boys from her. She does excellent work. Also, I belong to YorkshireTerrierBoutique, and I am sure someone there makes them, if Diane doesn't. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yorkshireterrierboutique. |
http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org/ has them in the yorkie shop. All there profits go to the rescue and what I have ordered came pretty fast. The have a lot of cute stuff. They even have halloween belly pads :p ..............Cindy |
what about the coat Do these bands cause the coat to mat where they are? I am brushing everyday but am worried the bands will cause coat matting. What have you seen? Thanks |
now what? Here is another question for you? My vet has decided that Hitch will not have surgery because the prognosis is better without messing with his legs (that's another long story). So now I don't want to neuter him (he will never be bred) because I am concerned about the anasethia (sp?). My vet also says that without neutering him he will mark and pee all over. So here is my question. If I decide not to neuter him should I just slow down the potty training and go straight to belly bands? Will all my hard work be lost on hormones? What have you male dog owners noticed? Thanks a million! |
Well, Yoda got fixed, and he still marks and pees all over (not in the house, I mean outside). He still humps his stuffed cat and dog as well (probably once every two days or so). We don't mind it at all, as he's never humped anyone's leg! :) If you do decide to neuter him, make sure the vet you go to has EXPERIENCE with little Yorkies and other small dogs, because too much anesthesia can be FATAL. Yoda was put under for a little bit, and he was groggy that day and the next, but he was soon fine afterwards. If you don't decide to neuter him, I think you can just keep on potty training him, I don't see why you should stop. They're really smart creatures, you can train them to do anything! :) |
