Biting Hi All- I have a question regarding biting. I think I made the mistake of letting Sassi gnaw on my finger while she was teethong but now she has become a full blown biter. She does while she is playing but has alos become quite snappy while playing as well. I have tried the soft rasberry approach, the hissing approach, spraying her with water, picking her up by the scruff of her neck, and ignoring her. I do not know what else to do, but it hurts! Please help. Thank you for all of your help |
Everytime she starts biting - stop playing with her. Move her away from you. If she keeps coming back - stand up and walk toward her - pushing her away. Go outside - leave her in the house. Go in another room - close the door. Don't "let" her bite you. Try to make her realize that you will stop playing - if she bites. And - Good Luck! Carol Jean |
If passive approach is not working you might have to try something slightly more aggressive. Have you tried screaming "NO" or "Stop it" in front of her face while leaning over her? Leaning over her and the strong harsh correctly tones are both dominating gestures. What you are telling her you are the boss and you mean it. If she stops then praise her for being such a good girl for stopping. |
