Biting at toes I am having a real problem with Gilbert biting at my toes....if anyone is in their sock feet he is relentless until the sock comes off. I dragged him around the kitchen trying to load the dishwasher and he just won't stop! Any suggestions? Also, when my neighbor comes over he barks non-stop like a maniac.... |
You might try spraying your feet with bitter apple after they taste it a couple of times they usually quit doing it. Also you could spray him with a spray bottle for the barking. |
thanks, I have tried the bitter apple but not consistently. I will definitely try that again. Can you basically put the bitter apple on just about anything? |
that is so funny, lexi does the same thing, every single day, i need to buy new socks now, most of them have holes in the toes... i say no and she right back at them... i even gave her a pair and she wants the ones my feet are in at the time.. i drag her all over the house.. it drives me nuts...then i run for it...and she barks cause she cant get to them.... |
Yep I put bitter apple on everything during the chewing stage. If that does not work try deodorant. |
Georgie does that too, but only to his Daddy so I guess it doesn't bother me too much :D Daddy says no everytime and gives him his toys and plays with him, it's slowed down some since he started doing that. |
Jaxon does that too, but usually with slippers. If he can get the slipper off, then he'll take it away and chew it. I've given him chewies instead and that really seems to help. He's a big time chewer (6 months and those adult teeth are coming through) so I try to keep him busy. |
UGH I am glad to see my puppy is normal LOL When he is excited, he wont let you pet him because he is too busy biting at your fingers. He bites at toes, fingers and what ever he can sink his teeth into. I try to shove a toy in his face when he does that. |
:luvu: Mini is a ankle biter to but she is getting so she doesnt do it so much I had to change my words to make her stop cause no bite didnt work , and yelling like a maniac didnt work either so now when she bites at me i tell bopbop in a real husky voice and she stops .I am real proud of her she is doing so good at not biting me . :luvu: :kiss2: :kiss2: :aimeeyork |
If my pup's bothering me - I put my slippers on. Actually - when I'm walking around - my feet are the only part of me that my dog can reach!!! Carol Jean |
oH ANOTHER THING I NOTICED about biting ,seems Mini does it when she wants to play or wants some attention of some sort .I guess you HAVE TO NOTICE THESE DOG MESSAGES because they cant talk english ..lol yorkenese maybe ..mine seems to talk bitewithease" |
We had a problem with Amy a few backs back. Everytime we walked around the house she would chase after us growling and try grabbing at our legs. So we got a tin with some coins in and everytime she did it we would shake the tin and she would back off. Fingers crossed she has stopped this now. :animal36 |
My brother's dog used to chase everyone in the house and try and bite or grab their legs also. They just all turned the tables on the pup. Whenever the pup started do that, they turned and started walking toward the pup - actually walking into the pup and moving him along ahead of them. He learned quickly that he didn't like people walking over him. And he learned quickly who was in charge. It worked! I guess it's a dominance thing... It's surprising what you can accomplish when you move toward your dog - and not away from him.... Carol Jean |
Starsky goes for our feet when he wants attention. I usually will tell him to get his ball or another toy and play with him and he stops doing it. If he gets out of control with it, I just use my squirt bottle and squirt him. Most of the time I just have to show it to him or even say "squirt bottle" and he stops! |
