Already Trained at 9 weeks???? I just got my little yorkie on saturday. The breeder had told me she was already papertrained but I really didn't believe him. I'm really not complaining cause its wonderful that shes trained. But is it normal for a 9 week old to be that trained. I know the smaller breeds are harder to train and I have read the posts with people having so many problems. Could it be that I got really lucky and shes smart or do you think she could be older then what the breeder told me??? |
I have never head of a any puppy being fully paper trained at 9 weeks.. if your furbaby really is, then you are REALLY REALLL lucky! If you think your furbaby might be older then what the breeder told you, then go to your vet.. sometimes they can tell by looking at their teeth. |
Well, I'll tell ya...just when you think they're trained....comes back to bite ya in the butt. I wouldn't let her have free roam, because I seriously doubt she'd go running to the paper if she couldn't see it ;) |

When I got Dezi at 8 weeks (she is 14 weeks now) I was told she was wee wee pad trained. she is doing really well, very few mistakes. I can't complain, but she still makes mistakes. I lucked out with the potty training, but she BITES A LOT (we are working on that)! :animal-pa |
Lady is going to the vet today for her first exam so I will be asking the vet how old she thinks she is. |

It's very possible for her to be well trained now but you should absolutely keep training her. If you let her free roam she will become untrained real quick at that age. |
You are blessed...go play the lottery hurry quick...before your luck runs out. :p I would imagine you are very lucky...I would prepare for accidents just incase. |
I got Ceeby at eight weeks and he was pretty much pad trained. Even at six weeks when I went to pick him out, the breeder had his litter and another litter in an Xpen with a washable pad. while there, I noticed every time one squatted, she picked it up and set it on the pad. When I brought him home at eight weeks, he went on the pad for two days, then stopped for two days, then started back to peeing on the pad. i didn't have to do anything. While he is still not completely poopy trained, he is pee trained but does lift his leg now. My new baby was nine weeks when I got her and the breeder had not even started to pad train her. She still has a lot of accidents but is mostly training herself to go where the big dogs go. Silk is five and had been trained for a doggy door. i don't have one and she immediately started peeing on the pads. So yes, I do think it is possible for your nine week old puppy to be pad trained but expect a few accidents along the way. |
Cali was trained on wee wee pads at the Breeders when I got her at 9 weeks. She trained amazinglt quick. She had only a couple of accidents. So it is possible. I think it depends on the puppy. Also I am home all day with her which may of helped. |

paper trained at the breeder's doesn't necessarily mean the puppy will be paper trained at your home. just like bunjee is potty pad trained at home, but he still has some accidents when we go to my parents' house. you'll still have to reinforce what the breeder has started with potty training. |
Count me in too as one of the lucky ones who's got a yorkie that was trained well to go on the peepee pad by the breeder at 8 weeks. . . very few mistakes and definitely NO accidents since 10 weeks old at night when sleeping with us. I am hoping my Nika will be the same when she comes home . . . :rolleyes: |
