am I alone in this
 

Ok, I have had Dollar for4 moths now and he is 7 months old....I have been potty training him for forever...he just still doesnt get it. I dont know what to do...is it too late will he never learn? Is there still hope that he will get it?

Please...what should I do, we are about to move into a new house and I dont not want the carpet to be all poo and pee staind

My Pippa is 19mths old now any only really potty trained for last 3 months :eek: and i've had her since she was 10 weeks old

Have you tried crate training? It works, and the best part is no stains. Even if they have an accident, you are right there and can clean it up right away. We have white carpet and not a single stain, and not for lack of accidents! (Credit goes to my Bissell Quicksteamer!) You may be giving too much freedom, not rewarding enough, not being clear about where to potty, or at 7 months he may not have the bladder control yet? We had out last accidents up until Loki was a year or so. He would get up from a nap, walk toward the door and just pee. He knew what to do, he simply couldn't hold it. Now he is just fine. If you are more specific, we can be more helpful :)

Poor you!!! Its so frustrating sometimes! Just stick with it, and be consistant!

Yikes! That's so frightening! I've only had Bella for 4 days and her accidents are already worrying (and a little bit irritating!) me so!!! :(

It seemed like for the first two days she was fine. Would always pee on the pad or when crated, in her litter box. Now all of sudden-anywhere in the kitchen (where she is gated and has a puppy pad) is fine. She was going to the pad just fine but now she'll just pop a squat wherever, and go! It's soooooooooooo frustrating. I watch her and grab her and put her on the pad but to no avail!

Tucker is 11 months old we have had him for 9 months and it's still like day one. He goes every time we take him outside. Then he comes in and two minutes later goes again. He will pee or poo right next to me, doesn't even try to hide it. We have resorted to a diaper around the house. I wouldn't even think of new carpeting, though we need it. And you know how everyone says the poo is so cute, like little tootsie rolls? This guy goes like a German Shepard. I don't get him at all!

At least - put belly bands on him. You can continue training, but at least he won't ruin your new carpet.....

thanks guys? DO they ever get potty trained?

I've had my baby for a little over a month and she is 4 1/2 months and she has learned to poop in her box but she still doesn't get the idea of peeing anywhere but the carpet or wherever she feels! At one point I thought I was going to kill her but I was patient and she finally started to catch on. They're stubborn little boogers so just be patient and consistent, he'll get it :)

My logan is potty trained or I am. But we take him outside. This is our schedule. He sleeps in a playpen from 9:00-6:30. He doesn't go in his playpen, but he has a pee pad if he needs to. My husband feeds and takes him out at 6:30, he poops and pees. He goes back in the playpen til I get done in the shower then he hangs out with me. He's in the playpen from 8:00 til around 12:00. The 1st thing we do is take him out of the playpen and right outside (he knows to go to the door, but seems to forget if we're not paying attention), he usually only pees at lunch. He gets to hang out and play for an hour then back in the playpen from 1:00 til we get home at 6:00. As soon as we get home we take him right out and he'll pee & poop then he gets supper. Then usually he'll go to the door one more time before bed. On sat. and sun. when we're home with him he will go to the door when he has to potty so it can be done. Just be patience and if you catch him in the act say no and clap your hands so he stops and then place him where you want him to go and when he finishes going praise him. It can be done, but you have to watch them like a hawk for a while to catch them in the act.

Some are very hard to train. What is suggested for those that are not getting it at that age, is to go back to square one, just like they were puppies. Keep them confined and watch them when they aren't. I don't believe it is ever too late. And especially with moving into a new house, he won't have his favorite places so it's a good chance to start fresh.

It's definitly a struggle to get them potty trained but patience is the key! Don't give them to much room to wander...keep them in an exercise pen, it's just enough and although you may feel bad, these little squirts don't need much room. Feed them twice a day and after they've eaten they go straight to the crate. Which IMO is the best way to do...no pee or poo stains on the carpet that way...about 10 to 15 minutes and they'll have to go to the bathroom..show them where it is and when they go I always give them a little cherrio..this rewards them for correct behavior and lots of praise...just gotta keep going these little ones have very small bladders compared to the bigger breeds and in addition to potty training mine to go outside, I always make sure they are not left for long periods of time to hold their pee or poo. The problem with us is that we start to wear down after so long and let them wander without having our eyes on them. This prevents them from pottying in the right place...I know I'm guilty! :)

be patient. yorkies are very hard to train. romeo used to be awful, but now he's pretty good as long as we go outside alot. their bladders are tiny. good luck. :)
