Please help! Hi Everyone, Our puppy Boss has been home with us now three weeks. He's great, in perfect health and very active. We took him home at 14 weeks and he had been trained slightly at the breeder to use pads. At home we are using pads until it gets warmer out. The past three weeks have gone extremely well. I could count on one hand how many accidents we had. most of the time he walks over to the pads on his own when he has to go and at night wakes me when he needs to do his stuff and then right back to bed. PERFECT. Then yesterday we had the weirdest day. He peed at least eight times, and six were off the pad. He was right next to it but went anywhere but there. Then, before bed after he finished going to the bathroom he was playing on our bed while we were reading and without warning peed right on it. This is where I need help. Is this just a usual slip up in potty training or are we to start from scratch? Today was a good day and then a few minutes ago he peed on the couch, no warning. I spoke with the vet (we were there today to get a shot) and she said he was fine. Anyone come accross an incident like this? I was bragging to everyone how good we were doing! Any suggestions or ideas would be incredibly appreciated from all the expreinced yorkie mommies or daddies out there. Thanks in advance! :) |
New Enviroment... Can cause little accidents. Your puppy probally didn't spend much time on couches and beds at the breeders. So it is like starting from scratch. The little babies can't hold their lil bladders for too long. So if he's on the couch and has to go he will go. Make frequent trips to the wee wee pads or outside. Good Luck :tinyheart |

The other thing that I'd look at is what have you changed. Are you possibly praising/rewarding less for appropriate pottying? You might also want to keep him off the furniture until he's 100% reliable. Good luck! |
I would start all over. My bunny would tell us at 1st she had to go.. Then as time went on, the "hey mom i got to go" got shorter and shorter and then it was to a point she was telling me as she was peeing on me...I could not count how many times she had pee on me.AND it was ALWAY me, not my hubby, my mom, my brother or his girl friend, not my hubbys borther or mom but ME. She would wait till she got back to me and would pee on me. We had to start all over at 4 months... But I have heard yorkie girls are harder to potty train the males so that might be bunny prob. + she is just like me, has her momma hard head. She dose everything you tell her not to do, Just like me lol GOOD LUCK On Getting BOSS Potty Trained!!! |
marking Maybe he is marking! and goes back and pees in the same place. |
