Lots of Questions nala keeps tearing up her pee pads and it's driving me crazy!! this morning right before i went to work she decided that instead of playing with her 500 toys that are laying around she would tear up her pee pad  (she's been doing this alot here lately) i couldn't take the chance of leaving one down and her eating it and choking on it while no one was home so now she's at home with nothing but carpet to pee on!! she's is making a habit of this and the hallway in our house is starting to smell. i've tried the vinegar and water but it doesn't work.i even cleaned the carpets this weekend but it doesn't get rid of the "smell" is there a product that will take the urine smell out of carpet and get rid of the smell so they won't pee there again? we also need this for my other dog that we found out this weekend he's been marking his territory on our couch!!! we never noticed before because it's in a room that no one ever goes in. will getting him fixed make him stop marking since he's already learned? he's was an adopted dog ( i guess that's what you call it) he lived outside at my papaws house and was pretty much on his on b/c since he faught with my papaws other dog and wasn't allowed in the house and we felt sorry for him b/c a big ice storm was going to hit and i didn't want him to freeze to death. he was suppose to go back but never did. i guess this is why he still pees in the house sometimes since for the first year or so of his life he lived outside? i would love to hear any suggestions. i can't stand the smell of pee and i don't want people coming in our house and the first thing they smell is dog pee!! |
kp_23, I use Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover. I wipe with it and/or spray it on the floors if Cookie decides to put her nose on the peepee pad but pee off of it... :D You could consider using one of the pad holders...maybe Nala would be less interested in it if the edges were held down by the holder....Good luck!! :aimeeyork - don't they just melt out hearts!!!! :lovewings -RubyC |
1. There are products(some sort of frame) that will keep the pee pee pad from moving and keep your puppy from tearing it. 2. If your puppy is not potty trained, then she should not be running around on the househod peeing on your carpet. You need to confine her until you solve the problem. It is easier to stop bad habits than have to go back and correct them. 3. Getting your male fixed may solve his marking problem. I would also suggest you check into belly bands. 4. Water and vineger help remove set stains probably not much help on odor. There are very good products out there that will get rid of the urine smell. Can't remember what it is called. Got introduced to it at a dog show. Love it but it is very expenisve about $100 for 10 gallon bottle. But for cheaper solution and what I have on hand for little accidents is Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor remover. |
nala is confined behind a baby gate. the only place that their isn't carpet is the kitchen and there is no way to block her in there. before she started tearing up puppy pads she was very good about using them and had very few accidents. |
Sound like she is doing really well on the pad so if you can try to get her back on the pad as soon as possible. The pad frame may be your solution. If you can't you might think about buying a dog pen or crate. You don't want to teach her it is okay to pee on the carpet. |
i just ordered some nature's miracle and a pad holder. i forgot that they have those i think that will take care of her ripping up the pad b/c it's the edges that she wants. i can't be too hard on her with pottying b/c she (for now) has to be kept seperate from my other 2 dogs so it's not like she can tell me she needs to go outside that's why she has the pee pads in the hallway but i do try to take her out as much as possible to get her use to going outside. |
I use the cloth pads. Mine always went after the plastic. I do lots of laundry, but don't have to worry about plastic being digested. The holder should work too. I know at least 2 in my group would chew the holder too though. Mine are rotten. ;) |
