My parents are basically animal shelter unto themselves they take in strays and rescues all the time. I think they have like 6 or 7 dogs now, mostly large breeds and a couple small breeds including a YORKIE and a lot of thier dogs were abused and very timid and afraid when they frist got them but they have all adjusted just fine and are happy healthy dogs now. It just takes time for them to trust again and learn that they won't be abused anymore anad that your husband is not going to hurt him. Just be patient and gentle, it might take a couple of months but he'll come around I'm sure. |
How sad!:( I\'m glad your baby has a good home now. It\'ll take some time to adjust and trust will come in due time. Hugs to your new furbaby! |
I have been in yorkie rescue for a number of years and have seen this situation often. Just have your husband be loving towards him. He will especially need to lower his voice and watch his tone of voice. In time, when he learns he can trust your husband, he will most likely come around, depending on how badly he was abused. I fostered a little 3 pound yorkie for 2 years who had been so badly abused he was blind, had seizures, and had neurological damage. Just watching him go from a trembling, frightened little guy, to one who was completely at home in my house and even coming to me to rub him, was worth everything. When I lost him due to the uncontrollable seizures, just a few months ago, it was a sad day indeed, but at least I know that for the last years of his life he was loved and well cared for. |
I would say too, that it is going going to take time and patience. As for the pooping, he was probably trained to poop on a hard service instead of grass. I guess all I can say is to be thankful it is outside. I\'m grateful when mine just make it to the door. LOL Good luck. |
I\'m so glad you found this baby, he\'s in a loving home now. Bless his little heart and yours. |
