Sleep Deprived!!!! Help!!!!! My yorkie is 7 weeks old and i know she is very young still but she keeps me up all night!!!! She is soooo good during the day, she never cries. If i leave her alone during the day i put her in the kitchen (its gated) with her kennel door open and all of her toys, her food etc. She usually will cry for 5 minutes then she goes in her kennel and goes to sleep. But at night when i do the same thing she goes wild and honest to goodness the last few nights she has cried non-stop all night. From 11pm-7am. And this isnt just a few little whimpers, she is full out screaming. As soon as i pick her up she stops. I know its not good to give in to her crying. ive actually only done that two times when i was at my wits end with her. I even try to play with her lots before bed so she will be tired. Please help with suggestions! i'll try ANYTHING! I just need some sleep! |
Try doggie daycare once a week. They run around for 8 hours and are tired for the rest of the week. She sleeps all day so she is up all night. You can also try changing her feeding schedule to see if that helps any. |
I dunno if this will help but when I first brought Tiger home at 8 weeks, his breeder have been putting a blanket over his crate when it is bedtime. With the lights off and the blanket over it, he has been really good. Of course, by 10 weeks I could not stand being away from him so decided to move him to my bed. I love to cuddle him and since he has been accident free since the new sleeping arrangement (he is now 19 weeks old), we both are very happy sleeping away at night (unless he wakes up for me to "relieve" him). |
Can you get a small cate and put her in it on a table by your bed where she can see you. Jewels would cry non stop too but would go to sleep if she aw you lay down to go to sleep. I also think the towel over the crate is a great idea. |
When I brought our little guy home at 11 weeks old I put him in my cat's crate right beside my bed. I cover him with a blanket. I think your little one wants to be close to you at night. 7 weeks is very young to be left alone at night. Hope something works for you. |
We have had our puppy almost 2 weeks now. The first night we put her in her crate on the floor and she cried and cried. The second night we put the crate at the end of the bed on our level where she could see us. She goes to bed the same time at least one of us does. She has not made a sound since, and sleeps through the night without soiling her crate. |
Wow!! Thanks guys, you all had very good ideas! Thank you so much!!! I will most definatly be trying those out tonight!!!! Once again, thank you so much!! It means so much!!!!! |
I also put her playpen in my bedroom and she was fine . Is her name Cali? That's my yorkie's name too. |
This is what I do.. I have had Mayzie since she was nine wks. She is now 11 and our arrangement is working out well. I bought a graco baby doll play pen. It is a replica of a real pack-n -play. It is really cute but a clothesbasket would probably work too. Anyway, I let Mayzie fall asleep with me in my bed and as soon as she is asleep I lay her in her "bed" even if she wakes up she will lay right down and go to sleep. She has slept all night but once since I got her and I have been doing this since the get go with the exception of the first night. If she should wake up through the night or I hear her rouse I just stick my hand down in the play pen and touch her and that is all that is needed. I forgot to mention that the play pen is right by my bed. She's happy, I am happy and best of all I get to sleep! I keep a pee pad folded up in the bathroom for early morning visits--this usually around 5 when my husband's alarm goes off and then her and I get back into my bed until 7. Jamie |

Thank You Sooooooooooooo much guys! I tried putting her crate beside my bed on a table last night and she was actually quiet for most of the night! It was amazing. I could not believe it. So thank you thank you thank you. I know she is going to only get better and better!!!!! |
8 month old baby girl up at 4 am-help! why is my dog now getting up at 4am, she used to get upat 6am She is 8 months old and doesn't stop barking once she gets up.any suggestions would be welcome.Squirt bottles and shake cans are not working. We are all sleep deprived. |
If nothing works - why can't she sleep with you. My pup at 8 weeks slept 6 or 7 hours from the first night with me. He pee'd only once or twice - but I learned to get him up early when he first started moving in the morning - and then he'd pee on his pad. Could she wear some sort of a homemade diaper just at night to sleep with you? And now that my pup is older - he will even sleep in his own bed occasionally - his choice! Carol Jean |
