pee pads I have a 9 week year old yorkie. He has been doing good going on the pee pads until this week. My husband and I can't crate train we don't live near our work. So we have him in his own gated area with toys, food, water, bed and pads. He was doing so good then this week he started eating his pads. What can we do? |
I would love to know the answer to this too! PLEASE....ANYONE! When I am home Benji hardly misses the pads and then when I leave him in his play pen for a couple of hours (the pen is equipped with his crate, toys, food, water and pee pads) they are always destroyed when i come home and he pees on the carpet. Any suggestions. I really want him to get used to the play pen since there will be days that I can not make it home during my lunch break. Crate training has worked very well but I don't want to keep him in there all day. Help! Holly |
I'm having a similar problem. I've had my 2 Yorkies for almost 3 weeks and the first 1 1/2 weeks they learned quickly and didn't make in their crate and almost always went ont eh wee wee pad. They are now shreddign teh pad when I'm not home and lately at night or when Iput a new towek in their crate or on teh floor next to the crate, they are peeing alittle on it, almost markign their terrirtory. Any ideas would be appreciated. They are doing great for the most part but sometimes decide to go next to the pad. It's a rule usually that dogs will not make in tehir bed, but the past 2 nights one of them has beein poeeing in bed....HELP. |
give them something to occupy their time like, a kong or bully sticks |
I myself use the washable pee pads, cause mine were tearing apart the throw away ones now I have no problem at all. :) |
How would I solve or at least try to fix the peeing problem in the crate at night.....? |
This is a reply to Simon & Teddy's last question .... I know that Benji did this a couple of times when we left him in his crate too long. My boyfriend and I (by taking turns) make sure that one of us wakes up around 6:30 every morning to let him go pee. We make sure that we do not play with him and that he doesn't eat because we want him to know that it is not morning yet. We keep the lights off and then once he is done we put him back in his crate and move him to our bedroom - that way he knows that it is time to still be quiet. It has worked really well. In your case, you may have to get up a bit earlier in the morning or twice a night. Eventually, start spacing the stretching the time out so that they know they cannot go pee until mom or dad release me from my crate. Good luck. I hope this helps. |
