Always eating from grass outside When I take Nova out without a leash she always look for stuff in the grass to eat. I don’t know even what she finds but she always finds something to swallow. I tell her NO but she doesn’t learn. I am afraid that one day she will eat something poisonous or harmful. Any advise? |
I’d keep her on leash and teach her ‘leave/drop it’. |

That’s the best place to let her run freely , |

Most definitely teach leave it and drop it, two very important safety commands. If your baby is food motivated she will learn fast, treat or kibble reward when she gets it right, you will see how fast she learns because she wants that food reward ;) |

Let me put your top knot - treat Don’t bark- treat Go to your bed - treat And the list is long as you know. Thing is that I didn’t have to treat my previous puppies so much. This one is definitely high maintenance 😂😂 |

My boy get praises for all the things you give treats for, your girl is high maintenance because she knows if she holds out long enough you will give her what she wants, a treat, you have to stop the treats and praise her when she gets brushed, or stops barking etc. Teach her safety commands, sit, stay, wait, LEAVE IT, DROP IT. These are treat rewards, and commands that one day may save her life. |

But I love them so much 😍 |

I always do a verbal ‘Good Girl’ with a treat. Then I can do a treat every other time and gradually decrease treating but always praise them. |
Katy (6 months old) LOVES to hunt in the Grass! Bugs. She loves to find Bugs and Cat Poop....luckily, so far, she does not eat the cat poop! She usually just chases the bugs. Most of the time Katy will drop what it is out of her mouth with the "Drop It!" command. I follow that with, "Good Girl!". Great Advise by others given above! If your dog is eating the grass, let it. A bit of grass is good for digestion. However, if your dog is doing this daily, it may need to be dewormed....or has other problems. |

INDEED! Ha Ha I keep a little bag of Treats here by my computer so that when Katy comes up on my lap in the mornings, I groom her. I do it just as you are saying.....Brush Out = Treat. After Top Knot is in = Treat. Each foot toenails cut = Treat. Less and less treats as she learned. It used to be, treats for every two toes toenails cut...... Treat for each area groomed. Right now, a Treat for each time she does a new Trick. However, she now has to run a little course of Agility with a Piano Played at the end for her Treat. THESE TINY DOGS! I so love their cleverness! And I love Katy is SOOOOO Treat motivated. (and we full feed Ha Ha) |
