Revenge peeing? Help me please! My 2 year old Yorkie is completely pee pad trained — when I’m home. When I go to work she doesn’t bother getting even close to the pee pad (can see her on camera). I work and wouldn’t mind kenneling her while I’m gone but she would need to be kenneled at night while we are sleeping too. I don’t want her in a kennel 17 hours a day! What can I do? Please help! |
A kennel is the best option or limiting her to a very small room. |
Can you gate her in a small area in the home? I keep mine in the kitchen and they are very comfortable. I tried kenneling when I first got Thumper but he and his brother would pee in the crate. I found they preferred to be gated where they had some room to roam but not the entire apartment. I find my two dogs will revenge pee when I step away from the apartment (like when I go to the laundry room or take the garbage outside) Also I find that they are calmer when they are together. If I take one to the vet by themselves they are not happy and will pee and poop away from the pads. They need to be together and they are fine. |
These little guys have minds of their own. When they're happy, they're very happy but when they're not happy WATCH OUT. |
I have to agree with aweitzm1 in gating them in a small room perhaps the kitchen, I don't like closing them in a bathroom tho. |
I agree with aweitzm1 as well. Providing dogs with a small area will be better than closing them in a kennel or cage that is small to stretch their legs. What's more, Yorkies are always energetic and need a large amount of exercise every day. So, I housebroke my pup and don't close him within the fence after training. |
I agree with everyone else... gate in a small area, either a room or you can use a corner of a room with an x-pen or baby gates. |

Sounds like you're getting some good advice from experiences others have faced. |
